So you think this is a server problem only affecting certain locations?sjm wrote:sjm wrote:Right now, SC is working fine for me, but I'm in Europe and presumably they have mirrors on different continents.

One thing I should probably add. I once had a problem updating tracks where the conversion process wouldn't terminate. Re-uploading didn't seem to work either.
I tried uploading a new track and that worked; at some point after that updating the old track also worked. I cannot vouch that one thing had anything to do with another. Just that sometimes the upload/conversion seems to fail for no particular reason.
I don't know how SC have their network setup, but I would presume they have regional servers that handle requests based on geographic location. They must serve a lot of traffic. So if the server in the US is failing, it doesn't necessarily mean Asian users will notice anything.
Similar things also happen with YT and gaming servers, for example. If whatever server is handling your requests is being hammered/has crashed or whatever, strange things might happen. Someone using another server will not experience the same issues at all.

Distributed databases are strange machines.
You can make them 100% available.
You can make them 100% consistent.
You can make them 100% network fault tolerant.
But never all three at the same time. Google "CAP theorem"
It's always a compromise...

Well, we're going on day 3 and still no acknowledgement from Soundcloud that there's even a problem.

Something else I just realized and this is becoming a very serious problem.
If you go to your subscriptions page, it will show you have no active subscriptions. Someone said this is always the case but that is just not true. But the bigger problem is this. On this page is where you update your credit card info. This option is not available when you have no active subscriptions.
So, here is a scenario where this becomes a major issue. Your credit card on file expires, let's say on June 1, 2018. On that same day, your Soundcloud yearly subscription expires. Soundcloud goes to rebill you for the next year but can't because the card on file is expired and there is no way to update it. Now you've really lost your subscription.
This is already happening to people whose credit cards are expired and they can't get in to change the info and their subscriptions have come up for renewal. I was fortunate as my subscription renewed in April before all this happened. So I have a year, more or less, to get back into my account and update my CC info, which is expired as of the end of this month.
And still, there is no acknowledge from Soundcloud that anything is even going on.
One can only wonder what the hell is going on over there as we soon head into day 4.

Hmm, I have a receipt for my yearly SC Pro account renewal in April, but logged in my account doesn't reflect the fact that I actually have a Pro account. Thanks for the headsup.

This my situation exactly...except I renew monthly. (I am on a fixed income and usually I don't have enough disposable income to pay for a yearly subscription.) My card's expiration date and 3 digit authorization code have changed and I was issued a new card, but the account number and name remains the same. Soundcloud applied charges to the expired card. They sent me a lack of funds notice. I tried to edit the card's details, but my attempts were rejected on the ground that the account number is on record. You would think they could see the expiration date is the problem. The link for account changes sends me back to the edit page. I seem to be blind because I don't seem to find a support number. So I'm left chasing my tail like a dog. I had no issues upating my card anywhere else.wagtunes wrote:Something else I just realized and this is becoming a very serious problem.

There is a special email for billing. I'll see if I can find it.Karma_tba wrote:This my situation exactly...except I renew monthly. Try one of these two emails
prosupport[at]soundcloud[dot]com
pro[at]soundcloudmail[dot]com
The first was posted on a forum and the 2nd was the one that my renewal notice came from.
They are probably getting hammered with emails so don't expect a reply.

All speculation is pointless at this time. It could be caused by many things, either within the Soundcloud infrastructure, or external to it.
I certainly wouldn't like to think that this is in any way related to GDPR implementation

That is a distinct possibility as this all started on May 25.seismic1 wrote:All speculation is pointless at this time. It could be caused by many things, either within the Soundcloud infrastructure, or external to it.

LOL @ SoundCloud's "Help Community"
Half of the posts there right now are from people complaining about this issue and the other half is weird west-asian porn spam. Help Community > Subscriptions.
