Picked up the core plus the 4ms modules but already I know I’m going to end up getting them all.

These damn sales.

Anyone use Softube modular and VCV Rack? Just wondering how they compair. I use VCV rack and the digital (MI) modules are superb (can’t be more authentic given they are the same code) but there are some realy fun looking modules in the Softube system...(although there hast been a massive list of 3rd party modules, the ones they have look very good)
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S49MK2, Studio One, BWS, Live 12. PUSH 3 SA, Osmose, Summit, Pro 3, Prophet8, Syntakt, Digitone, Drumlogue, OP1-F, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Nord Drum3P, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

I use both though mainly VCV now. The analog modelling is very good in STM (though Vult's stuff sounds just as good IMHO).

The standout model is the 259e, which is exceptional, and hours of fun.

There is something enjoyable about being presented with a much smaller number of very high quality models and working with them.

After VCV though the GUI is an utter fail.

Using them both together is possible though hampered by STM only have one set of audio inputs.

Thanks for that. Sale prices seem fair but I think I have been spoilt with VCV, it also seems to get a lot of new modules, but nothing as stand out as that 259 so far (although being able to get the new NI modules like plaits is pretty cool!)

oooooooh!

I'll almost certainly end up buying it, but for an open source digital module, I sure hope a good chunk of that price is going to Mutable Instruments themselves.

Hmmm... I have free versions of this in VCV and Max4Live already. Softube's analog modelling has not been required here as it is a digital module with open source code.

Right clicking on an STM module does nothing so I wonder how the alternate modes will be selected. I really hope that it will not be like the hardware does it.

Lovely GUI and I assume an official licences version from MI. Hopefully they will do all the modules for softube users as they have for VCV, although they are only 30 bucks for softube (certainly not expensive) there are quite a few modules...it may cost you 200 bucks to get them all for softube (assuming they do them all) when the identical sound is free in VCV rack.

At the end of the day it’s great that people hav3 the choise and we have 2 great modular simulations to pick from (or have both)

I probably won't be buying Clouds for Softube Modular, considering that I already have the hardware module, plus I can run the same code on my Organelle and VCV Rack. That being said, any Softube sales which return extra revenue back to Mutable Instruments would be a good thing in my book.

Yeh, you can buy 'plaits' for 20 bucks from MI for VCV, I am hoping they do marbles as well, be great to learn it before I buy it!

Edit- just read MI give 80% of that 20 bucks to charity, so no excuse not to get it, I own the hardware version but bought it anyway to support this great idea  !

Yeah I seen it last night when I was trying out the demos in modular, went to click for the demo but it's not available yet

As far as I can see it is "QuarterClouds" as the alternate modes don't appear to be there (or I can't figure out how to access them if they are).

Note that we now have an A114 Ring Mod now and, at long last, a quantiser.
