Well, I've decided that I might not add lyrics to some of my tunes just yet.
It's really hard for me to do vocals, and I don't own a proper microphone.
To make matters worse, the guy I live with is really loud with power tools and movies and stomping around.
On the plus side, he doesn't mind if I work every day for several hours straight, on my tunes
So in honor of continued music-making, no matter what, here's a couple of fresh new tunes for ya!
FREE downloads, of course: hooray!
https://hearthis.at/protozone/dropper/ ("DROPPER")
https://hearthis.at/protozone/hyperspac ... rapnelmix/ ("HyperSpacing Out", shrapnel mix)
The mixdowns were difficult, especially on "HyperSpacing Out". I almost threw that tune away because I almost lost a working mix entirely. It took some hardcore EQing to deal with some issues which were finally fixed. If it sounds wierd on your system, let me know and I'll try to prevent it from happening in the future.
"DROPPER" wasn't as hard to mix and was a lot more fun. It sounds a bit scatter-brained, but that's the type of feel I'm actually going for these days, literally! I'm trying to shatter expectations and limits. I want tunes to be surprising even for people watching the future waveforms scroll by (don't do that!).
Enjoy. Feedback is welcome, of course. But I can't guarantee that I can implement any suggested changes.

My Feedback On Dropper
Music - 9
Instruments - 9
Performance - 8
Mix - 9
Overall - 8.75
Comments: I really like the sound of this. It's what us old people call funky. I detect some hardware synth in this. Am I wrong? Very well done.

Well, where to start, HyperSpacing Out, had a prodigy meets oldscool hardcore vibe to it, although attempting to dance to it would confuse the bejeesus out of me, not to keen on the hardpan click on the quieter sections, but that's just me. The mix is solid enough, dented my eardrums nicely.
Dropper, somewhat more confusing, until that is, the section at the end, the wobble style bass, now that took me to a good place.. Again, its one I could nod my head to, not sure its so much my cup of cha as hyperspacing.

Wow, guys. Thanks for the quite noble replies. I read what you said.
I did NOT use any hardware at all, but I am constantly seeking hardware types of sounds. I grew up on hardware synths and dsp gear and I miss them a lot.
I graciously appreciate your feedback comments and suggestions.
People who use their brains while they listen are a joy.
I'm relieved that you guys liked the tunes.
It's really nerve-wracking for me sharing tunes.
the start-stop kinda thing is a long-term style of mine, but sometimes i do it a bit too much.
i forgot to consider that people might actually be dancing to these
that hardpan click is kinda an IDM thing. but maybe it's not quite right for this tune which ended up sort dnb instead of idm-soundtrack.
I have another version of HSO in my home lab, but it's supposed to be more like pop.
it's kind of the lesser version thus far but parts of it are better. It probably won't be done till the end of the summer though. But it doesn't have any vocal samples either. It's actually more starty-stoppy than the other.
As for DROPPER, that's pretty much my new style in a lot of ways.
I'm glad these worked out. Check back again. i got tons of tunes waiting to be finished.

Just listening to Dropper now. Cool track. Sounds like some GenesisCM on there and maybe Pro 53 too.
Good work
