Each instance already is on a different preset. I basically saved a preset for each track.

However, I tried your suggestion to work with different banks (called "prog" above the presets list) for each track and voila, Reaper now remembers what preset I'm on.

It's a bit unusual to have to work with banks, but I guess it's just how ReAxis uses files and whatnot. Luckily, there are a ton of banks and I'm glad this works, now the hassle is gone.

Post

Oh well, that's not exactly what I meant - I just use one "temp" bank and keep saving to it. (then the other track's seem to know about the new presets in the bank)

I'll need to try your way ;)

Ah well, I guess your reply gave me the inspiration I needed for things to try

Here's a unrelated question.
Is anyone's able to use a MIDI controller (like an expression pedal) to control the wah wah in Reaxis?
I can't find a way for the VST to handle MIDI.

I control the wah wah in Reaxis with my Yamaha FC7 Expression Pedal.

This is very easily done in Reaper:
1. Move the top slider (of the wah wah) to the left with the left mouse button.
2. Click Param button (in Reaper) and select Learn.
3. Operate the Yamaha FC-7 and the edit box (in Reaper) will show MIDI Command info, then click OK.

Thanks mmann,

I thought I tried this - I'll try it again.
I got the kuassa wah wah pedal plug working - so I didn't try *too* hard ;)

This just doesn't work right for me.
I can use the Kuassa Efektor wah wah pedal and it works great - so I'm not too worried.
Just for interest though - I can get the Reaxis Wah to respond to my MIDI expression pedal - using your method (I guess the "Param" button works (learns) for the last parameter you touched?), but I can't get Reaxis to play back using the CC11 that was recorded.

Ideally, I like the MIDI on a separate track, so I create a MIDI track, route it to the guitar track (with Reaxis on it) and record the MIDI expression data on to it. I can "drive" the reaxis Wah this way - it responds to my expression pedal while recording - but when I play back - Reaxis does not respond to the CC11 data.

Recording the MIDI (CC11) right on the audio track doesn't really work either - as it doesn't play the audio when there is MIDI recorded over the top of it.

The only difference between this and the Kuassa pedal - is the Kuassa "learns" to use CC11 right in the plugin itself (it has it's own MIDI learn) and Reaxis "learns" to use CC11 through Reaper.

I can use the exact same routing as described above, and the MIDI track drives the Kuassa plugin - and everything works fine.

I'm sure there is something I'm not doing right - but as I said, the Kuassa pedal works fine - so it may not be worth all the effort ;)

UPDATE:
I installed "ReaLearn" and this works fine. I loaded an instance on the MIDI track (containing the CC11 data) and pointed it to the audio track with ReAxis on it - and it works great.

So ReaLearn is definitely worth installing - to enhance Reaper MIDI Controller mapping

Wow, what a monstrous surprise! guys, this is modeling in the level of Fractal Audio. I'll be checking out Spark, as well as it sparked my interest greatly :)

Keep this up! I wonder if you ever plan on doing some of the lower gain stuff, as BF Fender or D style?

Thank you for the kind words!

At the moment the best clean sound you can get from Mercuriall products is, probably, SS-11X.
As for modeling some legendary clean amp - no news on that, but we'd love to do it one day!

I look at it now, looks cool! never heard about the original pedal. perhaps you could clarify though, this is used straight to a cabinet without a poweramp section?

You can check out the SS-11X discussion here on the topic of poweramp:

In short: built-in IRs are shot with poweramp coloration. By itself, SS-11X is a tube preamp, just as its real-word prototypes.

Some great clean sounds on this demo! He clearly took it to the right place playing a STRAT and going for clean, bluesy and crunchy tones.
way to go. I'm very impressed

You can also bypass the IRs and use the Reaxis power amp section (disable everything else) and IRs (or go to a separate cabinet emulator).
