Waves V10 is out!

Hummm, just noticed that V10 doesn't support officially Ableton 9..
https://www.waves.com/support/tech-spec ... version-10
If I'm right, that means that some future update could break something on Ableton 9, and this probably won't be fixed.

Appears to work just fine for me. Upgraded Gold to Horizon, and got a bunch of new plugs I'd been considering buying AND got an updated WUP in the process!Fleer wrote:Waves launched some kind of organizer for people “mixing” v9 and v10:

Great. Another good reason not to wup or install v10. Thanks waves.waltercruz wrote:Hummm, just noticed that V10 doesn't support officially Ableton 9..

Could be Chrome on my tablet here, but can't see any info here. What's the story? There's a good deal upgrading to Horizon for me, but the whole mix of v9 / v10 horror is making me sit it out.Fleer wrote:Waves launched some kind of organizer for people “mixing” v9 and v10:

I have tried to avoid any update/new Waves plugin.
Presuming horrifying obstacles, I finally had to install a new plugin.
My worst fears proved to be right: Waves has really managed to do the life of their ver.9 customers (there must be tens of thousands of them) hell.
You have to install two separate installers, that was OK, if the installers worked.
But they don't.
So far the ver.10 installer just freezes. And it doesn't help, that the ver.9 installer dowload time is about 6 hours.
The Waves support is arrogant, as usual. *)
Launching a update (which none need), souldn't mean that using all the previous version plugins, become a pain in the neck. All the double systems in your computer charges the resources, and the disc space.
I don't know if I ever get my about 60 Waves plugins in use.
In any case, this all may lead to the situation, where I give up all my Waves plugins.
Congratulations Waves, you really know how to piss your customers!
*) This seems to be depended very much, with whom you happen to get in touch in the Waves support.
There are some wise souls, too, among them.

Well, I don't know if Waves are still in this building but fwiw...
I've been an avid user of Waves plugs now for many, many years and intend to keep in buying. However, this is now on haitus. I can't be bothered with all the hassle of coexisting v9 and v10 on multiple platforms.
So please - sort this out. Make Waves Central work in a sensible way, it really cannot be that hard to manage v9 and v10 seamlessly from an end user's perspective. This is your problem to solve, not ours to fight. Until such time - or until you offer free upgrades across the board to keep it simple - I shall not be making more Waves purchases. I nearly did in this latest sale, but the hassle i knew I'd get as a result outweighed any desire to get new plugs.
Over to you...

I had a harddrive failure and am in the process of recovering my VSTs on a new PC. I'm very reluctant to touch my Waves licenses and install anything (including Waves Central) until this is sorted out. It also puts a stop on any new Waves purchases for me.
Prolly don't care much but this is hurting your business, Waves.

Same(ish). However, don't forget you can leave them inactive in your account.MogwaiBoy wrote:It also puts a stop on any new Waves purchases for me.
If I see any must have bargains I'll still grab them but am going nowhere near Waves Central for quite a few months yet.

Nice one!! I didn’t know about this.Fleer wrote:Waves launched some kind of organizer for people “mixing” v9 and v10:

Although, it would have been nicer to have a better solution in Mac that doesn’t warrant the use of the Terminal. At least it’s a solution.

I don’t think it’s so much as purchasing a new plugin that’s the problem, personally. I think the problem is keeping it updated without Central wanting to update all the V9 plugins to V10, causing a host of issues.Mushy Mushy wrote:Same(ish). Hopefully, they will update Central so this isn’t a problem. Something like having a “Hide V9 to V10 Updates” button would be good.

I recently tried to demo the In Phase plugin from Waves. After installing version 10 of the plugin I got the message "Products were successfully installed". However, when I run a scan in FL Studio 20 I get an error message. The following is in the log file:
[14/07/2018 21:11:57] Verify plugin - C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\WaveShell1-VST3 10.0_x64.vst3
[14/07/2018 21:11:58] [verified] "WaveShell1-VST3 10.0_x64" error
[14/07/2018 21:11:58] Failed to load plugin (!plugin.IsValid)
Anyone else have this problem? I have a number of version 9.x Waves plugins that scan correctly.

I wont bore you guys with my frustrated comments. If someone has an ideas I would appreciate it.
I had 8 V9 plugins. 2 needed WUP.
I bought a V10 plugn second hand.
Not wanting any V9 / V10 drama , I paid for the WUP on the 2 plugins and updated everything to V10 on the 2 Waves site.
Installed the latest WC
Then......tried easy install from Waves Central. ....multiple fails.
Deleted everything waves and tried again....fail.
Tried to download the V10 offline installer for only the plugins I have, after 4 hrs of stalling on one flle at about 90% complete I GAVE UP.
The folder it created was 117mb.......after 4hrs
At this point , I have lost a day and a good bit of my mothly bandwidth.
All waves plugins are now broken.
I will solve this but I think I am done with future Waves I really like their plugins but this scares me for long term.
By the way. If anyone would like to purchase my entire account PM me. I am willing to discuss.

I need to ask when installing V10 the first time around and you had multiple fails at it, could you please give me bit more information about what happened exactly??

You've already paid Waves for support, which is supposedly quite good. Might as well give them a call?
Thanks for sharing the horror story, though! I've a got a couple of weeks left in which I can upgrade everything to v10 fairly cheaply and so far have held off because I'm worried about this stuff :-S
