Oh when did that come out? The last one I had was the one that fixed the slow sample loading times. I got rid of my computer a couple months ago as I’m traveling. Will buy a new one in a month or so.

I think it was the same time as the Beta, but in the fuss of the beta I don't think many people realised it was out. I missed it initially too.

Sweet. How are the lemur templates going?

I’ve abandoned for now but did a fair few. Lemur is very flaky under Windows, keeps dropping off. Mac is solid though

Ah. Too bad. Is that the fault of the lemur app you think or due to the wireless midi of the iPad connection and would be the case with other apps too?

Post

I think part of the Lemur ecosystem. The kit shows full signal and performs well in other ways but then the connection on the Lemur Connect thing drops out not infrequently. And with this being abandonware, there’s little hope of things improving. A great shame, and no other obvious alternative candidate.

Aha, found one! Midi Designer Pro 2! Does NRPN. Impressive maintenance and update history.

Oooh... Midi Designer 2 looks REALLY good. So many things look easy to do there that are a colossal PITA in Lemur, and graphically it looks far superior. Only 2 problems in my world - 1) it's iOS only and 2) all my spare time has gone for This Sort Of Thing til late September. I'll be cheering on anyone who develops anything for this though!

Oh you don’t use iOS? I assumed you used lemur for iPad.

Not sure if I want to put time into this for a touch screen. I think I’d rather make Novation SL templates when I get a chance.

I do have an iPad mini, but its too mini for this task, so I was using a Fire HD 10. Lovely screen for this sort of thing - good size and quality.

Looking again, one omission of Midi Designer Pro 2 which might sound trivial is they don't seem to have options for waveform displays. That's a real shame as I think they've thought of everything else - makes quite a difference that I found when I was putting a UI together.

On the plus side, looks like there are a few controllers on their community pages that might work right out of the box, as there are a few designs for some of the hardware models that Omni 2.5 supports. Since Omni apes the hardware implementation, should just work.

Question for beta testers: now that there are 4 layers, and I guess that means 4 pairs of filters, how does the link work now? It used to link A and B layers of course, now is it all 4 layers? Any option to link just some layers? I’m guessing not.

Post

Beta testers aren't allowed to comment AFAIK, but you can take a look at the main screen for yourself at 13m 55s in the Superbooth video and draw some conclusions from it...

(I tried time linking it, but it wouldn't go to the right point for some reason).

Ah yes. It does seem like there is a link button per layer so I’m guessing maybe any later with link enabled controls any other layer that is linked, excluding those with it off. Makes sense. That’s my guess. Blink twice if that’s correct. Just kidding.
