Hi y'all.

Now that the CS-80V set is finally done, I'm starting a bank for the PPG Wave 2.V. If any Pro-Sounds customers would like to give a suggestion or two as to what I should put in it, you are more than welcome to do so.
....ah hell...I'll do a poll as well Smile.

I tend to "type cast" synths. I'm probably doing them a disservice but I guess it's just my way of dealing with having too many VSTi:s in the first place. Confused PPG Wave 2.V would be my go-to synth for when I need "a bit of synth" to fill out an arrangement without taking it over. Some nice arp and keyboard sounds that have character without being overpowering. Unobtrusive without being bland if that makes any sense. Can you do that? Very Happy

By VSTi standards, PPG Wave 2.V is absolutely ancient but I still think it's a very useful and versatile synth so it's good to se you making new sounds for it. Not having any on-board FX I guess some people might find it a bit thin-sounding but for my purposes it's perfect. I see there are already 3 PPG packs at ProSounds. Knowing my needs, which one should I go for first (don't think I can afford all of them right now)?

I certainly will Smile. Like you, I also find this synth to be very fitting for those types of sounds, so I will make a point to include plenty. Thanks for the input...very much appreciated. Smile

As for what is on there already...I did not make those, so I would have no idea as to what to expect.

After I get a few good keys and arps down, I'll post an mp3 for ya.

Just something to keep in mind: there are two different versions of PPG Wave - the Steinberg distributed and the Waldorf distributed versions. Are they preset compatible? I can't answer that question. But you should find out if you haven't already. Good luck with the project,

Jeremy

Oh and you should get some mp3 webspace... That ad-riddled page is pretty bad.

Yes, something along those lines. This sounds like a pretty good start. Looking forward to the finished set.

@Yossarian: Cool beanz Smile. Good to know I'm on the right track.

@tekalo: No problem, bud. I have a preference for modern sounds, myself, so the set will have plenty of those as well.

....Hey, anyone know if there are any compatability issues for presets between the two versions of PPG (Waldorf/Steinberg)? I have the original, not the one included in the bundle.

yep. unfortunately the older (steinberg) presets won't load in the new (waldorf) version.

Wait so the new waldorf presets wont load in the old steinberg one either?

Hey mr, patch maker please make DARK sinister, menacing basslines, and LONg EVOLVING TEXTURES. A lot of the ppg patches out there are weak and video gamish. Evolving pads with the ppg would be awesome. Also, if you could do sounds with automatic hammer ons it would be nice.

Sorry parma, but you're wrong about that. Our PPG Pack, up for sale at the Pro-Sounds site, was made on the old steinberg edition...I've got the newer waldorf version of the PPGWave right here and the old steinberg presets are loading just fine.

Peace Cool

Sorry to go OT for a sec . . but I have the original Steinberg version with the 1.2 steinberg update. My question is, does the new Waldorf version work with midi CCs ok? I haven't been able to get any of the Steinbug versions to respond to them. The newer version supposedly has a different way of using automation. I would buy the synth again if I knew it would work with CCs with the Waldorf version. (sucks they don't offer a upgrade path for early Steinberg adopters; they were planning to according the to the Waldorf forum)

Thanks!

Xenos - I voted for vintage. Very Happy Alhough I love ambient/furturistic, too. Smile
