Dear KVR Audio users,

We are happy to unleash the Parametr'EQ series V3.0 and a new mastering bundle named Blue Cat's Master Pack. With a brand new design for both the user interface and the audio engine, this new version of our parametric equalizer plugins for Windows enables us to enrich our professional offer. We now propose a complete pack for mastering and mixing purposes.

The Parametr'EQ series offer the best of the analog and digital worlds, including non linear modeling capabilities to provide analog compression and distortion at every EQ stage. The new output peak meter and brickwall limiter are of great help to adjust the output level. These plugins also offer an original and exclusive window opacity feature which let you see through the user interface while adjusting the parameters. The special 'Widening' version provides mid/side channels where you can manage the center position for the M-S matrix, enabling precise positioning of the EQ in the stereo field or multi band stereo widening and narrowing capabilities.

These plugins can be purchased separately, as a bundle (Blue Cat's Parametr'EQ pack), or within the new Blue Cat's Master Pack that includes all necessary tools for mixing and mastering. A demo version of the plugins can be downloaded on our website, and special introduction prices have been setup for this new release (-20%).

New in Blue Cat's ParametrEQ 3.0 series:
- New audio engine:
- Non-linear behavior with analog compression and distortion at each EQ stage.
- Output brickwall limiter for output protection or compression effect.
- Oversampling capability for optimal sound quality, even with low sampling rates.
- New low cut and high cut filters.
- Smooth bypass: activate each band of the EQ with absolutely no noise.
- New GUI design and Blue Cat's Skinnning language 1.3.2 support:
- Streamlined user interface with simplified controls for optimal workflow.
- Zooming: adjust the dB range of the EQ and the response curve graph.
- Frequency response measurement: new mouse coordinates display.
- New output level meter.
- Window Opacity Management: make the plugin window transparent.
- Less restricted demo version.
- Performance improvements:
- Faster skin loading.
- Reduced memory consumption when several instances are loaded.

Blue Cat's Parametr'EQ series main features:
- True WYSIWYG 7 bands parametric equalizer, with single, left/right or mid/side dual channels.
- Filters designed after analog circuits.
- Non linear modeling: add some warmth or analog distortion to each EQ stage.
- Output brickwall limiter.
- Output peak meter.
- Oversampling for optimal sound quality, whatever your sampling rate.
- +-40 dB range for each band with customizable effective range.
- Automatic gain compensation.
- No latency.
- Real time display of the frequency response with precise measurement and zooming capabilities.
- Window Opacity Control: make the plugin window transparent.

Could the Widening Parametr'EQ be used to eq competing frequencies in a stereo guitar track or would that be the Stereo Parametr'EQ.

If what you need is apply the same EQ to both channels, the Parametr'EQ is what you need (it accepts both mono and stereo streams). If you need different EQ settings for the left and right channels, go for the Stereo Parametr'EQ, and finally if you want even more power and apply different EQ settings on the Mid and Side channels for advanced stereo widening or narrowing effects or simply to apply an EQ at a specified position in the stereo field, choose the Widening Parametr'EQ.

$70 seems like a pretty steep upgrade price - I guess there's a lot of good stuff in there, eh?

Yes there is! In fact the plugins have been almost rewritten from scratch, and besides the visible UI and algoritms enhancements and new features there are many details that have been improved (such as smooth bypass and EQ bands activation). Note that the upgrade lets you get 3 plugins, so the upgrade price is quite reasonable, isn't it?

Yes what I was asking I guess is, can the WideningParametrEQ be used to eq left and right channels or is this only possible with the StereoParametrEQ?

It seems I did not get it!

The answer to your question is yes: since you can change the position of the virtual center for the M-S matrix, you can setup the Widening Parametr'EQ to work as a L/R EQ (if you set the center to -100%, mid channel becomes left and sides become right, and if you set it to +100% then the mid channel becomes the right channel and the sides becomes the left channel).

Maybe this short article about Mid/Side processing will illustrate the explanations above.

@morelia: I guess you have a cache issue with your browser. You might be looking at an old product page related to the previous 2.0 version. A refresh in your browser should show you an updated web page. The price is indeed 63.20 EUR (instead of 79 EUR), or USD 79 (instead of USD 98.75).

I actually just popped back to ask for an explanation of mid/side eq. The link was just what I was after.

That's a worry because I just clicked on the Blue Cat's Stereo Parametr'EQ buy me paypal link and it took me to a purchase page showing US$48.95.
