Wusik Announces the Wusikstation V4 First Update

In around 15 days (more or less) from today, we will be releasing the first Wusikstation V4 update. Notice that this update will come with only 2 new major features and a few internal changes.

Wusikstation V4 First Update:

  • Stereo Layers Support. Instead of using 2 layers to handle stereo samples, you will now be able to use only one layer and one WusikSND for a stereo sound. We will also update the WAV to WusikSND batch-converter to handle stereo WAV files. This won't affect much current presets, so CPU usage should stay the same.
  • More voices per layer. Now its 16, we will increase to 32. This may increase CPU usage when using 32 voices compared to 16 voices. This change helps specially when playing Piano or long-release sounds.
  • Other internal changes and additions. (subjected to change)

This update will be Free to users who subscribed to our Wusik Sound Magazine before April 2007.

Now for an incredible deal! We are already running a very special promo: if we go over 200 new Wusik Sound Magazine subscribers, every Wsm user will receive this V4 update FREE! So subscribe today and help increasing the current number of new subscribers. We are already over 100 new users, so we should reach over 200 pretty soon. You can read more about this and also the current number of users on the following link:
http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1754 73

PS: Just keep in mind that future updates will only be available if you keep your
subscription. So if you cancel your subscription right after downloading
the update, you will not get the next update, even for the bug-fixes.

We don't have a price for the V4 updates yet. Right now, you can only get those updates by subscribing to our Wusik Sound Magazine. Once we have more updates out, we will release the update price.

Best Regards, WilliamK

By increasing the voices to 32, is it meant that polyphony will be increased to 32 voices before notes start to cut off?

Yes, that's correct. Today we have 16 polyphonic voices per layer, we will increase this to 32.

Aagh. I was just about to update from CM version to V3. Should I still do that or wait till V4 comes out? Or will there be a free upgrade for those who've bought in the last x weeks?

Actually, you should upgrade now and subscribe. That way you get both V3 and future V4 updates.

Good news. I'm already half-way on the stereo-layer update. hyper Already updated the WAV to WusikSND converter, and its already kinda-working inside Wusikstation. Tomorrow I will work more on it. The other half of the problem is the disk-streaming, but nothing I can't update. Cool

I'm very excited about stereo layers. Don't forget to consult with gregjazz and Wlodzimierez about implimenting this in their popular conversion tools.

Please realise it is not a simple "will I or won't I" subscribe issue for everyone. I am hardly going to subscribe to something I can't download.

I realise that may change but there seems to be a move toward offering a lot to subscribers. I can't see that I will subscribe in the near future because my internet connection makes it impossible to download the content. But I have been a WS user for a long time. I feel a bit excluded. Sad

I'm in the same position. However, if I move back to a high-speed connection at about $500-$600 per year ($50+ per month), I'll be able to get in on the $39.99 special and save $50.

Personally, I don't like a "buy my subscription to get my product" deal. It's very CM-like. (Did I buy a product or a subscription?) Those subscriptions are huge and really taxed my e-mail yikes! If I subscribe to CM (Computer Music), I'll surely acquire more offerings and I won't run into the download problems.

I grabbed this Wusik thingie last year before the Holidays; haven't used it; and cannot even grab the updates and sounds that I purchased. Now, I have to find someone else's machine to download what I purchased, which isn't an easy task, at the moment. The old stuff seems to disappear from the site shortly, after a new version comes out. So, now I'm on a timer. Lovely!

BTW, if you're recruiting people from this site to write in your pay-for-view magazine, why shouldn't I just read what's on this site for free?

Those are two awesome new features William.
Definitely worth an upgrade price.
