Hi,

I'm starting a support thread for wavtransit.
Any questions, comments or bug reports can be posted here.

I noticed several posts regarding confusion about how to load samples and have addressed them in the bug report sticky thread, but I will go into more detail here shortly. I'll do sort of an online manual in this thread, with picture examples.
Stay tuned...

Well, I'll start. I'm a big fan of the PM stuff. Last year's Cubix was a great little app.

I was a bit disappointed when I just for the life of me couldn't figure out how to get this thing to work. I loaded it in a Cubase 4 instrument track, but after that couldn't figure out how to get it to make a sound.

There were so many other apps to get to, I just closed out of it and moved on, so if I missed something in an enclosed manual, forgive me. But I wouldn't think it would be that difficult to get it to make a sound.

Can you point me in the right direction?

Berfab you're in for a treat when you get this working, it's my favourite entry so far, and in my opinion one of the best PM plugins ever Smile

I saw on the main DC thread that I've got to load it up with a sample. So that would be a good start I suppose.Laughing

Is this a beat FSU app? Should I put a beat sample in there? Or is it meant for other types of samples?

It's actually designed for speech/movie samples, but beats would be fun too. Just keep in mind that it's not a beat slicer, so you might get some ugly cutups if the loop isnt the same tempo as your host (since wavtransit follows host tempo).

Most importantly, before you start, you must load up a sample folder, then after you select your folder, click on the black box above the 'folder' and 'preview' buttons to select a sample from the list. Once your loaded up, you can simply hit the preview button and your sample will loop continuously while you try out all the features.

I'm going to try to post some screenshot explainations tonight.

I'm going to go ahead and make an in-depth downloadable manual, but for now, here's a breif explaination for loading wavfiles:

A.The first thing you must do is load a folder containing samples. It'll be like you're loading a sample, but your actually only choosing the folder, so open any sample in the folder of your choice and this will determine your sample folder.

B.You wont see any samples loaded right away, because you've only loaded your folder, so you'll need to click the empty black box to load a sample from your folder.

C.Select the sample from the list that you want to use. Now you have a list of samples that you can conveiniently choose from rather than having to load it from the folder each time.

D.To hear your sample, you can simply press the preview button and it will play the sample in a continuous loop, unless the 'loop' button is switched off. Alternatively you can play the sample with your midi keyboard. But preivew is good for quickly testing out the plugin.

Sorry if that was oversimplified, I just wanted to make it clear so there's no more confusion.

The manual will cover the more complex functions like what the loop vector and position sequencer are actually doing.

My favorite is to record a couple minuites from a movie, somewhere inbetween a tension buildup and load the whole thing into wavtransit. The rearranged parts just sound so weird...
I would imagine field recordings would be great, just havent tried it yet.

Bug Report: If you move the wave end slider to far to the left (start and end are too close together), you cannot grab it any more, making it impossible to lenghten the wave section again. Think about a solution with left mousebutton or modifier for the end handle.

Yes this is kind of a pain. Somtimes when they are touching and it wont let you move say the end slider, try moving the start, or try clicking on the other side of the slider. It's kind of buggy and doesnt always work the way you'd expect, but it will legnthen, you just have to mess with it. Left-click doesnt work in Synthedit like you suggested, but I probably should make a couple of extra controls to make it easier to adjust when they're that close.

Another thing I noticed: the output volume is very soft, main volume won't help a lot, even with a normalized wav I got a maximum output of 10% or so.

Yes, someone mentioned that earlier, however, the velocity sequencer section has a gain control that can boost the output.

I made a wav out of a synth, loaded it, and did the pitch section at the bottom into an arpeggiated-sequenced style pitch shifting riff.

Really cool. I haven't had time to get into the glitch feature yet.
