So how about posting some of these examples to the ever loving Zebra crowd Half the fun is the hows and why's about the creation of a piece of music. Here is one case: I was trying to make a multi purpose plucked thing when i realized i had a sound on my hands which had some resemblance to a cross between a jazz guitar and a harp. So i refined it a bit to be more harp style played and thought, why not make a little cute piece of music with it. At the moment i'm one of the very few persons on earth which have some previews of Howards upcomming soundset. One of them being HS Strings. I often wondered how i could do this patch justice in a piece of music. I think the time is now http://www.xsynth.com/demos/Z2_HS_Strings.mp3 Thx Howard for making Zebra even more complete /Michael Last edited by mkastrup on Sun Aug 01, 2010 7:13 pm; edited 4 times in total |

Zebra has been wonderful for me as an inspirational tool. Check out this "spacesynth" song, for example, which evolved out of messing w/ Z2 sounds. Nearly every synth is from Zebra!
http://www.soundtempest.net/Solar%20Revolution.mp3 Or how about this one, a bossa nova/drum and bass tune uses Z2 for the smooth pads, bassline, leads, and rhodes: http://www.soundtempest.net/ET-10.mp3 Most of the song developed by simply loading up a new patch and improvising over the beat. Such a great plugin, Urs! ---- Zebra 2 Tetralogy - 188 Dance/Electronic Presets! Impact Soundworks - Electric + acoustic guitar, big metals, world instruments and more! |

the song "fullmorning" is 100% zebra2 only samples for drums and some fx. Lots of nice synth stuff going on and i'm particular fond of the lows here, the kick has to be the dry'est low full kick i've heard in awhile and goes very well with the select bass. Nice production /Michael |

here's one that is pretty zebra centered (though it also has kontakt and probably operator). Production is a lot simpler than the others in this thread, but, well, that's where I'm at |

Perfect timing, just an hour before i go to bed. This is a nice track, a bit like tracks i use to jam along with myself when i'm in the relaxed jamming mood. The track is intense in a good way and not hidden by far away reverbs and stuff so the music comes closer to the listener which gives this track alot of personality /Michael |

mkastrup, very nice! Definitely trying to create this genre of music myself, but please answer me this question:
What reverb are you using? The reason I ask is because of this: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=193946 |

The reason I ask is because of this: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=193946 Hi Architeuthis The Z2_HS_Strings track is all internal zebra fx, in other words its straight out of zebra, didnt even use a limiter, eq or anything. The track consist of the following things: The plucky thing patch (which is the pluck with slight soft pad added) Symphonic Saw (Oldskool soundset) Van Gelis kinda lead Flute Fields (Oldskool soundset) Harmonium kinda sound HS Strings (a patch from Howards upcomming soundset) Each of these patches use their own fx settings. To get the sweet spots out of the reverb i use an EQ to boost the incoming signal (high mid range) in the reverb. If i want more distance in put a delay infront of the EQ. Thats about it i guess. I could have used Artsacoustic Reverb but i felt the build in fx settings in this case was good enough to give the right room/hall. /Michael |

I think the strings patch Michael used is called "Almost Strings+" (the '+' means it uses the XY pads in the perform page). It will be included in the factory presets, so I guess I could post it here: Go to http://www.box.net/shared/95m7ug29bj
The "upcoming soundset" Michael referred to will be called Zebra Science. Available after the next non-beta version of Z2 (because I used all the improvements I could get my hands on!) ![]() |

Lets see (hear) more Zebra music. Bring it out, ideas, rough sketches, super polished or not, even small snippets could be fun (educational) to listen too.

No time at all. All 3 objects were presents from my Froyline: She knows I'm a u-he Zebra fan and a popular science-head (Dawkins, Einstein, Feynmann etc.) + our most recent holiday was in Egypt. I didn't mean to scupper this thread, so: Bring on the Z2 music snippets! Those so far have been very interesting... |
