Wow! Thanks Psy I know it was probably the slowest fast tune on here but I simply had to put something up or face a crisis of confidence, having done nothing on the competitions for so long I'll be having a poke around at this from time to time, and try and develop it some. |

OK
Completely off topic, but..... I was at "The Worlds Largest Music Festival" yesterday There was a guy with a display that offered free, unlimmited web space, unrestricted band width, free domain, ect, ect. It's at www.zude.com. I was at the web site. It's got a couple glitches, but I just thought I'd pass on the info. Scoops ---- _____________/\______________ |

Feels like everyone (myself included) struggled with this theme - mainly with composition but some even on the basic premise of the theme. ..or maybe it's down to the 1 minute limit. Yeah, that's a fair call, I think. Nice enough stuff but, for me, no real electricity down the spine. Wouldn't say it's the time limit though - a lot of the entries could have trimmed 30 secs or so without losing much substance, I reckon. (Especially mine and Pharaoh's.) |

Yeah, me too! I sacrificed my chops to the sequencer. Really I never practiced enough anyway. At least the sequencer lets me create the music one way or the other. But thanks anyway! |

So is it true what they're saying about Kanye (or is Summerfest somehow bigger than Bonnaroo now)? Say it ain't so... |

But thanks anyway! oh wow, if you can program notes like that, thats even more impressive than playing. Dunno about anyone else, but I find I get best results by using the sequencer as a sort of mini-recorder and just playing single-handed fairly short phrases, then stitch them together. Once you've got a sensible melody line you can just pad out the rest as appropriate. This lets me 'play' stuff I would never have a hope in hell of getting anywhere near otherwise! P.S. That's method 'A' Method 'B' is quite different and top-secret |

Yeah, it depends on the piece. A lot of the time I play it all the way through and then tweak it till I fall asleep and the next morning, there it is. Or else I use the short phrases method, or the old standby, set the tempo to about half of what it would be if I had practiced as a kid, and play it like a dirge. I'll even step-sequence something if it's incredibly fast and has to be just right.
And my newest method, using multiple layers on Sonar in a loop, play it 5 or 6 times, then use the muting tool to erase the sections I don't like. Then I tweak it till I fall asleep... |

So is it true what they're saying about Kanye (or is Summerfest somehow bigger than Bonnaroo now)? Say it ain't so... I really think it's all about marketing. A couple years ago the Summerfest staff has Guiness book of records come in, and they declared it the largest music festival. It's been in advertising since. Saw a person that sounded like it could have been Oddbod. Maybe his double. Scoops ---- _____________/\______________ |

BTW thanks everyone who voted for me. I don't really mind someone not voting me as much as someone not listening to my song before voting. |
