Hi everyone,

I just finished building the website for the sample banks i'm making.

I wanted to make some big samples libraries of the different instruments i have. I used to compose with commercial ones and wasn't satisfied so i deceided to build some and i got really happy with it. So i thought i could sell them but at a low price so it can be affordable.

I planned it like 6 month ago but now it's ready: it's here: www.acousticsamples.net

You can get some free samples which are really light versions and do not implement all the articulations but that can still be usable.

The commercial ones are for now a fretless bass (8 to 11 velocities, 13 velocities for the releases, harmonics, ghost notes, 700 Mo), a vibraphone (8 velocities, 3 velocities for the releases, 913 Mo), a fusion drumset (350Mo, 505 samples), an acoustic upright bass and an electric upright bass. All available in Kontakt2 and EXS24 formats. I can try to make other formats, but i only know those two well.
I made some audio examples using only samples that are quick compositions.

Edit: I released some new instruments and there are a lot more to come!!!

I'm planning on releasing other instruments (i'll be sampling an upright piano, an es335 gibson guitar next week and a full drumset with different snares, cymbals and others an i'll redo the upright basses to get them more complete but later) so check the website for updates.

This is not an attempt on making better than the famous samples providers as i'm making everything on my own (getting instuments, playing, recording, sampling, and building the sample banks) but at least they're cheap!

I hope you'll like it.

Arno

it seems strange... are you using internet explorer? If so try to use firefox, i'm working on getting this to work in ie6, ie7 should work. In ie6 the audio player is not working but the examples in every available instrument page work.

Audio demos are working in IE7 here.

Nice one, Arno! I like the demos and the prices are certainly modest. I just ordered the electric upright (an instrument I didn't have before) and will probably be back for more.

Cheers,

Nice website and good sounds.

My only slight gripe is that the demo player buttons are quite obscured when using Firefox with the adblock extension. This is because adblock adds a 'block' tab to all flash elements -- it's not your fault but it does make the buttons slightly tricky to press.

I wonder, dare I say, if you are actually pricing these sounds too cheaply? Very Happy I think people would pay more for these, and higher prices can (within reason) make your products look more 'pro'... Wink Just a thought!

Just a suggestion,
you may want to look at optimising your site:

Documents (3 files)   8 KB (23 KB uncompressed)
Images (52 files)   808 KB
Scripts (7 files)   82 KB
Style Sheets (3 files)   16 KB
Total   913 KB (929 KB uncompressed)

..that's pretty hefty, even in these web two point oh times..

oh, the demos sound interesting though Thumbs Up!

cheers,
sk

Ok i'll try to reduce teh loading time or maybe to add a loader... but i don't use flash, so it's more diffucult.
And as to the prices, the really cheap ones, i might make new versions that will be bigger and sound better (i hope...) so this is some kind of a first release.
Do you really think that the vibysm and bassysm are too cheap? I really wanted to make these affordable, but not at the expense of the "pro image". Advices are welcome.

Also thanks for the nice compliments Smile

I see you're using the mootools framework - you should load the images in as needed via an ajax call / dom manipulation. Or not, you call Smile

btw acoustic upright sounds nice, might have to get that one.

i'm on firefox. will try again, maybe it was the pop up blocker as mentioned above

EDIT: no, its simply that the name of the demo and the place to click are not in line; i was clicking on the text and nothing was happening cos the actual button is to the right of it

drumisym very nice. checking the others now.

by the way, en anglais "paiment" est "payment" avec le "Y" Smile

Ops you're right for pa"y"ment... Smile i'll correct that!

For the sfz format, i'll give a try but is there also the release trigger option? If so, i'll convert most of the libraries. Another question, can i make all of this on a mac?

Yep, see "trigger" opcode. Extensive info about the format here:

I don't know if there's a version of the SFZ player for mac as the format seems fairly PC-centric to me, but the sfz files are actually simple plain text files, so I'd say yes.

Ok everyone, i just updated the website, less images, all the png are compressed at maximum and i added a loader. Thank for pointing me this out!

I have another question. What instrument would you suggest me to sample? What would you really be interested in? What is missing on the market?
