It's been a long time coming but I finally feel comfortable enough to release Poise 1.0. This version mainly has a couple of bug fixes. The most important fix being related to patch loading. Not all parameters were being recalled correctly in a few circumstances.
In addition to bug fixes, a prototype implementation of "Cut/Cut By" choke functionality has been added. There are probably a few bugs yet to be found. Feature list and screen shot. - Shannon Last edited by very angry mobster on Mon Jun 03, 2013 9:33 pm; edited 33 times in total |

Can you talk me a little about future improvements? what's about 64bits? I'm a little tired about other plugins/daw that are promising but the programmers dissapear or forget them...
And I see some small graphical gliches in all my host: Orion, Reaper and FL Studio, can you fix that? I like this plugin, maybe I buy it |

Hi Kyodeejay,
Quote: Can you talk me a little about future improvements? what's about 64bits?
My initial aim when developing Poise was to create a drum sampler that could be sold for less then $100 and still provide a useful amount of features and a nice workflow. Nothing has changed here. In the short term any improvements will probably be related to improving stability and usability. 64 bits. If it does happen, is some time away. Both my computer hardware and development software will need an upgrade. Quote: I'm a little tired about other plugins/daw that are promising but the programmers dissapear or forget them...
It is disappointing to see development cease on promising applications, especially when there are only a small number of seemingly minor issues holding the software back. But I think this is unavoidable. For whatever reason, developers sometimes need/want to move on to new/different projects. If at some point I cannot continue to develop or support Poise, I will endeavour to respect the support given by people. Graphical glitches in the browser? I'm aware of this but I think the fix is a little bit involved and there are a couple of other things I would like to address first. It will have to be fixed at some point though. Quote: I like this plugin, maybe I buy it
Cool, I'm glad you like the plugin. |

For get graphic glitches, just click on Show/Hide browser in Reaper...
I'm thinking a lot on this plugin |

Do the graphic glitches persist after the GUI finishes resizing? In my tests with Reaper, the GUI doesn't look great while it's resizing, but it's only a momentary thing. I'll try fiddling with a few things, and maybe send you out a new demo in a couple of days. What version of Reaper are you using?
Regarding the manual, I'm not sure why it's not working for you. What version of Windows are you running? Windows XP service pack 2? I will try to sort out an alternative format, but in the meantime I can answer any questions you may have. (Either via email or the forum here). |

No it doesn't. Only while resizing. I'm on the last version of Reaper, 2.51 (the updates are free until 2.99). I'm on WinXP SP3 Home edition.
IMHO the GUI in a VST is very important. A GUI can give me the feeling of sturdiness and high quality sound, or it could give me the feeling of bugged vst and cheap sound. Of course this second options do that I didn't want to work with the plugin I don't want to say that your GUI is bad, but when I open/close the browser it gives me a bad feeling Seriously, Poise is the ideal drumsampler that I was looking for (it's liked to FL Studio FPC, but it isn't avaliable in VST format). Only fix that when you can. I'll email you now Regards |

Hi,
This is an excellent companion to the WusikGrooveBox which I use, but I have few problems. Poise 1.0.1 + Reaper 2.51: - I can save edited "Note Map", but when I load it, nothing happens. - If I have more than one sample loaded to the pad and then select any other sample than the first one and press delete-key, I get screen full of "List index out of bounds (-1)" error messages. I had same problem with the manual as kyodeejay when I used Internet Explorer, but it was ok when used Firefox. I wish that I could have custom nametags on the pads and also have the sample name visible on the same time. But maybe that would make it too cluttered. Thanks |

Hi Flatout,
Thanks for pointing out those bugs. They've both been fixed and Poise has been updated to 1.0.2. I'll have to make a PDF version of the manual. Quote: I wish that I could have custom nametags on the pads and also have the sample name visible on the same time.
What kind of nametags would you use/like? The problem with displaying the sample name is that there can be up to 8 samples on a pad. |

Great. Do you plan to make a mailing list at some point ? (i have to dive into the archives of monthly e-mails to find the download link each time that i read on the forum that Poise got updated : if i received an e-mail with a link since a new version is released it would be more user-friendly Quote: I'll have to make a PDF version of the manual.
Cool ! By the way, i still have some missing samples from time to time, it is very weird. And i would have 2 or 3 FR i keep on asking for - humanize decay - global decay (which would act on every samples while moving a single knob) - more skin themes THank you ! CHeers |

I've been a little reluctant to send out an email with every release, because sometimes they come quite close together and I don't want to annoy people with spam like quantities of email. Would you prefer an email every release, even if it is one every day at times? Good point about including the link in the email. I'll start doing that. Quote: And i would have 2 or 3 FR i keep on asking for: - humanize decay - global decay (which would act on every samples while moving a single knob) - more skin themes Humanise decay: Would be good, but some it needs some internal re-wiring to add this. It might happen at some point. I don't know. Global decay: This would also be good, but I'm not sure how or where this parameter could be placed on the GUI. If there was a global decay, I would also like a global pitch shift. More skin themes: This is on the todo list. I'll send you an email about those missing samples (maybe sometime next week). |

Hi,
Thanks for the quick update, it cured my problems. Quote: What kind of nametags would you use/like? The problem with displaying the sample name is that there can be up to 8 samples on a pad.
I would like have my own common pad names (Kick, Snare etc.) and also currently loaded sample name and if there are several samples in one pad, then the selected sample name. But as I said earlier, this could maybe make the view too cluttered. Regards |

One simple way to deal with that is the Guru method: shift+click set parameters for all layers in the pad, ctrl+click set parameters for all layers in the whole kit so you don't need an extra knob. only problem is to know if it has to be relative or absolute. Any clue ( |
