My goal was to imitate the look of reflected glass or plastic. It's a little tricky, but I think I'm getting the hang of it. The technique is to add a top solid circle layer that has a smokey look. It involves messing the circle's aspect and using the AnimMask to mask parts of it off. Hard to explain... My website is down right now, and as soon as it comes back up, I'll post the knob file. I've been having website problems lately, and I'm about to get medieval on my web host's ass if they don't straighten things out soon. EDIT: Website issues seem to have been resolved. Pool, anyone?
Another light reflection experiment:
Glow Knob 01 Glow Knob 02 8 Ball hehe, you found a secret ... i do it all the time exactly like you described here ... look at thatone here: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=3159429#315942 9 |

Leslie Sanford wrote: An experiment with 3D knob perspective.
I'm not sure it looks quite right. Maybe slightly skewing the Aspect for the circles would make them look more realistic? EDIT: Ok, I think I know what's throwing me off in the above picture. The perspective changes so much for knob to knob and they're so close together that it makes it appear as though the surface they're on is curved. Interesting. Here's an example of using the knobs in SkinMan:
I deliberately spaced the knobs far apart so that the perspective is hopefully correct. sick! man what you are capable of is getting scary you're making us non knobmanners look bad seriously though i love the look of those 3D ones. it's something difficult to achieve perfectly. |

I've put up a KnobMan webpage on my site:
KnobMan Stuff Mostly stuff you've seen me post here. BTW, I just switched Web Hosts, so some of the links in this thread are no longer valid. I'll correct that soon. |

Leslie Sanford wrote: I've become concerned that I'm spamming the KnobMan thread too much and that perhaps bug reports and suggestions are getting lost in the mix. So I thought I'd start a new thread where we can post KnobMan and SkinMan examples seperate from the KnobMan thread. That way g200kg can have an ongoing dialog with users without the noise of me posting my latest knob or screw... erm.
Yes good idea, move to this topic with all our knobs, leds, buttons... So Repost my works: 3d knobs, knobs copy from 'Nomad Factory' and 'UHBIK'...
Others Nomad Factory copy.
