Some VSTi's allow you to audition presets using the keybaord up/down arrows.I can't seem to do this in Alchemy? Am I missing something?

Hi,
We have implemented keyboard selection of presets and put a lot of time in to getting it to work, but unfortunately it depends on the host and OS you are using. Assuming it works in your host, click to select a preset on the main browser page. At this point the up / down arrow keys move 1 preset at a time, left / right moves 1 page at a time. Any other GUI action will cancel keyboard input so that keystrokes are passed through to the host. Peace, Andy. |

The alternative would be program change messages that do seem to work in all hosts I've tried. You can even find programs that let you use a computer keyboard to send midi messages I believe ---- My free patches here http://fingermarks.co.uk/music2.htm My Soundcloud page: http://soundcloud.com/amused ![]() |

Hi Andy, it looks like Samplitude/Sequoia doesn't recognize the up/down, left/right arrows. I guess I'd better report it on the beta forum. Regards Kraznet |

I seem to be having problems getting the up/down keys to work in Live 9 32bit on Lion 10.7.5
Does anyone else have this problem or is there a fix for this? |

Does anyone else have this problem or is there a fix for this? Hi, There are technical reasons why keyboard selection of presets does not work using the 32-bit VST in a 32-bit host. The 32-bit AU does work, and the 64-bit VST & AU both work in a 64-bit host including Live 9. We won't be changing this behaviour for v1.5 but may be able to fix it for v2.0. The easiest workaround is to use MIDI Program Change commands to select the preset. This works best with an external keyboard controller, but can also be done in Live using the keyboard up/down arrows to change the Clip properties to set the bank and program numbers. This 2nd method requires that the clip is launched and playing. Peace, Andy. |

Thanks for the info Andy.
Do you have a quick guide on how to set up the program changes in Live 9? I googled a bit and found this post for camel phat http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=5344564 but I couldn't get Alchemy to respond to the changes, maybe I missed something. I set up a clip (routing as described in the link) and then I manually changed the values. I'm a bit of a noob. EDIT - oops. I forgot to launch the clip. everything works as described. |

Looks like you figured it out, but there is no need to use multiple tracks for routing MIDI. As long as Alchemy is the first instrument in the chain of plugins all MIDI will be sent to it by default.
Peace, Andy. |
