As far as i know you are totally right (for the point of Europe)...also i remember reading something (when the agreements pops up) in several recent Cakewalk products during the installations process...

jesus im getting sick of this.

back him up to your heart's content; he's still completely missing what I was actually talking about. reread the first post. Particularly this bit which was added for the notably hard-of-thinking.

EDIT (for those who would rather miss the point than think a little bit about why this is referring to links to 'OEM' versions of full software like Logic or Cubase)

This post pertains to the allegedly 'OEM' versions of current, fully-featured full-version software that folk find being sold for ridiculously low prices online, on sites which sell nothing else. In other words, to sites selling warez.

To laymen, software development is something akin to wizardry. Neither time, nor effort are involved. If software is missing features they want, or has bugs, it is solely because someone has been too lazy to wave their magic wand.

maybe you should then also edit this part of your first post :
Quote:

REMEMBER KIDS, THERE IS NO 'OEM' MUSIC SOFTWARE.

it's untrue.

Also I don't know the sites you are referring to that sell nothing but OEM software. Without links and examples, it's very nebulous what you are talking about exactly.

But we are moving around in circles.
In the end I don't care where other people get their software from. As long as my own software is legal, I am content.

You might want to read the forum rules, then you'd realize why there are no links and examples...

Why should I edit a quote by someone else that isnt me?

Well, that's possibly because this thread, which is now over a year old, contributed to slowing the regularity of people posting 'hey I found this site selling this OEM version of Komplete6 for $20'

Like these:

http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=249182&highlig ht=oem
http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=246470&highlig ht=oem (*)
http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=230531&highlig ht=oem

The fact that you, personally, dont know about them doesnt mean that folk weren't asking about them. on the other hand, a simple search for 'oem' would have given you enough examples to work it out for yourself, if you'd actually thought to look.

(*) This is the thread that the text I used that you say I should edit came from. Its a 'quote' : you may want to look that up in a dictionary.

Dont be naive. Links to warez sites are forbidden at KVR.

No, despite the number of people missing and deliberately trying to miss the point, we're still where we were over a year ago when I first posted.

I think this thread has bloated enough. Further hashing-out will just add noise without information content.

I will wrap things up with this advice: Check your country's laws before you buy; if a "bargain" seems too good to be true, it almost certainly is; and nobody makes so easy, so reliable a sucker as the greedy and uninformed.
