just something to tide me over until the next "What's the most digital-sounding synth?" thread...

make a musical composition using only Mr. Alias 1 and/or 2. if anyone actually does this, the winner will get a copy of "Mr. Alias Pro."

rules:
1.) use Mr. Alias 1 and/or 2 as the only "instruments" (i.e. effects are ok, but i don't like them that much, so you will probably lose)
2.) use something else for drums if you must, but it costs you ten million points
3.) deadline will be decided later (you're disqualified if you ask me what the deadline is) (update: the deadline is june 7th, so i will compile the final list of entries on the morning of the 8th)
4.) it doesn't matter if you break the rules, because "Mr. Alias Pro" doesn't even exist (update: it does exist now, but the "it doesn't matter if you break the rules" rule still applies)

by entering, you implicitly give me permission to host your entry on or near the Mr. Alias web page (http://www.thepiz.org/mralias2/challenge/).

entries, if any, will be judged by me in a blind listening situation. the winner(s) will be announced on june 14th.

see here for a tutorial on using my plugins.

here is the final list of entries.

01. datapark - alias bitch
02. Jon Boyd - Deadliner
03. Aka - Planet of the Slippermen
04. SIGHUP - liizaploop
05. AuthenticDan - Smooth Analog Warmth

Is Mr. Alias suppose to sound like Complete Chaos? This Synth can't be tamed I swear!? How and the Hell do you use this thing to actually make somewhat "Normal" Music? Or is this just some Experimental/Glitch/Chaos Novelty Synth? And I thought Scanned Synth was the most Uncontrollable and Obnoxious sounding Synth ever. This definitely takes the Crown in that department though. I think this thing as way more uses as an actual Effect rather than a Synth? Cool

hmmm, interesting question. it can play actual notes, if that's what you mean, but i don't want to spoil the challenge by explaining how to do it.

anyone who manages to make "normal" music with it will get 100000 bonus points.

That pic with the woodgrain is hilarious. "How can I imitate the boring sounds of yesterday, right down to the hardware-gui?"

Maybe I'll make a demo song, I'll see how it goes. I'm working on a new amp sim, it blows anything else away for power.

I was just about there, when I managed to crash with some kind of clock error.

It's probably for the best.

I got some kind of normal sounds out of it. So, here's my entry: "Planet of the Slippermen". The title seemed to fit.

http://web.me.com/chrismed/music/planetVBR192.mp3

There are some effects on it but no drums. I confess to using VintageWarmer on the mix bus - it's not in the rules but I'm guessing the use of artificial analoguey warming aids is a no-no.
