What option would you rather have for authorizing the software you buy?
Challenge Response? Dongle? Serial? Key File?

Serial or dongle. Although dongles make it really easy to (re)install a (new) PC with all your software. I don't mind dongles, really.
And IBTL.

I agree with brambos, serial/keyfile or dongle (ONLY Syncrosoft, no iLok). I hate challenge / response the most unless it's done like Celemony (where you can de-activate your install to free up a license).

Well I agree too, up to a point because I'm not sure I'll ever use a Syncrosoft dongle. I do have an ilok but that software isn't even installed now, I would rather have one codemeter dongle than two (one for Samp and one for YT Indy 2.5 pro) but I have no problem at all with codemeter.

If I had to choose one? One dongle for all my software.

If I had a choice I would take serial. then once I install
everything I do not need anything else.. I could just make my own
dongle/dongles with all my serials on a usb thumb! and have backups..

what do you guys like about dongles over serials?
you can just make your own dongles with the serials.. and have
as many backups as you want..

There is no copy protection as simple and reliable as a key file. No hardware ID issues, no registry keys, no dongles, no Internet connection to authorize and complete portability.

I like it when I re-install, no need to look up or enter serials, everything just works!memyselfandus wrote:what do you guys like about dongles over serials?

but after installing the software. you have to have the dongle in there
or it does not work. with serials it just works all the time.
I guess I am one of those people who worries to much and
if I lost or had the dongle stolen or broke on a laptop
I would not want to have to buy the software again.
Yea of course this never happens right but..

Indeed. The bottom line is that I want to be in control of the software licenses I purchase. I always make multiple backups of my software and licenses.
