Hello everyone
I am a new member and I have been reading and enjoying this site for a long time but have always been too shy to post

I saw this unbelievably low price on the Lexicon bundle and the noticed
in one post it was sold and then later on in the thread it was available again.
Also all the licenses for sale in this thread seem to be ilok protected
Sorry for the long story but it realy feels like this ilok scam that was going on with ProTools licenses

I have posted this in the actual thread as well

http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=374464&start=0 &postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=

I purchased an update from ProTools 8 to 9 from Ebay for $150.
Considering the price in the Avid online store of $299 I thought I was getting a great deal and I had no idea an ilok license could be stolen.
I received all necessary info from the seller and registered with Avid and I
downloaded my software directly from the Avid site the same day.
3 or 4 months later I went to my Avid account to find my registration for ProTools 9 had been removed from my Avid account.
After contacting Avid they told me the license I had registed with them had been terminated.
This is one of the first of many emails and phone calls I received from Avid when we were trying to figure out what happened.

"The activation code you have provided was purchased, and returned, by a customer other than yourself. Once a customer returns a downloadable product, all of the associated downloads for that product are removed from whichever Avid account they were activated to. You will want to contact the ebay seller from which you purchased this product to reach a resolution regarding your missing downloads."

Avid told me it was never a good idea to buy one of their products through Ebay
and that they could downgrade me back to my version 8 license.

When I contacted the seller and told them what Avid had said they told me not to worry cause they would just get me another license.
They asked me to let them know when I had finished my downloads from the Avid site so they could return the license and get a refund again
When I told them I wanted a refund and not another stolen license they ceased
contact with me and I reported them to Ebay and Paypal.
As far as I can tell the seller is no longer on Ebay
I am not 100% sure this person is running the same scam or is the same person but it does seem that way
Just wanted to put this out there to try and avoid it happening to someone else

That's why I don't buy anything on Ebay. There are too many tricksters...

Hi Tricky-Loops
This post is in regards to an item that is for sale right now on the KVR market place
The item was already sold and the seller recieved positive feedback in the feedback thread and now the item appears to be available again from the original seller
Just raised some red flags for me after my Ebay ilok experience
I put the link to that thread in my original message
Sorry if my rambling did not make this clearer
You are right about Ebay

There could be a good explanation but I wouldn't bet my own money on it! Smile

Keep in mind that lots of posts, and even many successful transactions, doesn't automatically mean that a KVR posting is legitimate.

11 K-Pop posts in half a year is MUCH?? Shocked

I think I've written hundreds of posts in this frame of time... (and I haven't sold anything because I try to keep 'em all... Laughing )

Hah! HiHi No, that's not where I was going with the comment...sorry. It's just that we sort of assume that things are only weird if the posting history looks like that one...and we should, no doubt (Meffy makes that clear in his sticky), but I have also been very much surprised by the behavior of KVR members whose longer posting (and feedback) history appears to imply that they honor the "KVR code", as it were. Sadly, such is not always the case. Neutral

It will be interesting to see how k-pop responds to your post in the thread.

Can you let us in on the secret? It would be nice to know whom to avoid in the Market Place.

Hi rictheobscene
I am wondering what response will be had as well
I cannot say for sure this is not an honest seller but it does seem a bit odd they are selling the same bundle twice
I really thought it was safe to buy an ilok license from Ebay
I had no idea that something like this could be done until Avid told me themselves
Now I stick with places like JRRshop and AudioDeluxe etc.. for any online software purchases unless I buy directly from the vendor or developer

I posted to the feedback thread, which is the best way to deal with these kinds of things...unless a flat-out scam has been uncovered.
