there needs to be more of the photo-realistic tubes in view; The power of suggestion will be more effective and I'll hear more creamy 2nd harmonics that way !!!!!!! Cool Cool Confused

Zero latency: check!

What I'm most interested in is dynamic saturation.
So far, the few "preamp" type plugins that exist seem to distort the audio a set amount, regardless of the input level you feed them. Of course that's not really how saturation works at all.

Does Redline Preamp do this too, or does the saturation effect increase dynamically, relative to the audio signal's input level? I'd like a preamp plugin that only distorts when the signal is pushed. Like the real thing.

That's an interesting point you make. To a degree Redline Preamp does do this--the saturation *will* increase for louder input levels--, but I guess not as dramatically as what you're suggesting, and in a linear fashion as opposed to much more above a certain threshold. (In its defense, it is supposed to model relatively clean but characterful preamps rather than full-blown overdrive or distortion.)

Then again, we're always more than open to suggestions and this is a good one, so I'll dive into this and see what we can come up with for v2. Some ability to set the tolerable headroom before things get out of hand (so to speak) sounds like a great feature to add!

Thanks,

The dynamic saturation point or rather lack of proper dynamic saturation seems to be one of THE points that is criticized in plugins. So i think this ís a important aspect to look at.

Hi dj! (112dB),
can I use the preamp as kind of exciter for a whole mix?

I don't see why not! In comparison to "other" saturation plugins it doesn't mess up the source audio that much but leaves it pretty much intact even at heavier coloration settings, so it shd prove pretty useful as a mastering effect too. I guess. Wink

If I were in your position I would probably suspect the same thing--except we're not, hehe. But with some luck we shd be able to release tomorrow!

And to think that in Honolulu it's only 4:36AM, so technically speaking today is going to last for almost 20 more hours! (And I think on Samoa it's an hour more still but not entirely sure, unfortunately.) I don't envy you guys... Razz
