Is it possible to do a user-definable color in SE, like Daichi's Synth1 has? |

I think the yellow and black GUI looks great. It's the same colours as my motorbike. Looking forward very much to the release. |

great to see that you're working on a new version of rez. I personally like the yellow gui, but a second one with more moderate colours would a good idea for other users imho. btw. maybe I can do some patches for it You've still got access to the beta forum, so I'd be happy to have you on board as a beta tester again. I'll be there |

No, I am afraid not. The new SE created conflicts with v2 so I had to rebuild various aspects of it - including the whole GUI, using different types of controls. As a result, v3 will not be preset compatible with v2. The good news is that v3 gains new features, various improvements, bug fixes, and I find the new GUI easier to use. well, it was worth a try to me, preset compatibility of too much importance, it is a new synth after all. maybe the new gui is easier to use, but the old one was easier to the eyes. anyway, i do not want to play smart here, take the development course you feel comfortable with, and we hope to see the final product soon! Quote: Quote: also, i do not see the definition of lfo in the gui. and, whatever you do to it, please do not change the basic sound too much. that made the synth pretty unique. maybe add 2 or 4 times oversampling, ok
LFO is there - the LFO slider controls the level and the waveform and speed adjustments next to it control the other aspects. Also, unfortunately, I have no control over the oversampling since I'm using SE. huh? i am aware of the level control, but i haven't seen the waveform selector nor the speed slider for the lfo. forgive me for being ignorant, but i really cannot see it. Quote: The sound is definitely different. Sorry about that, but some of the upgrades I wanted to make required that, and others were forced by changes in SE. (Modules that didn't seem to work well anymore.) The new tone is more vibrant, clearer, more high quality, and more aggressive. I'm still tweaking it, but I may post some mp3s up before too long. well if it is clearer and more vibrant, the better good luck with the project, as you can see there is quite a lot of people eagerly awaiting the result. |

No more CPU issues you say? Then I'm looking forward as hell, becouse when I had just singlecore PC, REZ was one of my first "wtf is synthesis" brothers! Still love it, but with that CoreDuo i'm not able to use it fully. |

To a certain extent, you can add images in SE that can be tinted. However, the interface for that wouldn't be the greatest, and I think the settings would be tied to each preset (or if set to ignore program change, perhaps not saved at all). I may be wrong about that, but in any case, I just don't think the UI can be up to the job for that sort of task and I'd rather not include a feature if it means implementing it badly. thecontrolcentre wrote: I think the yellow and black GUI looks great. Glad at least a few people other than me like it. h.vox wrote: huh? i am aware of the level control, but i haven't seen the waveform selector nor the speed slider for the lfo. forgive me for being ignorant, but i really cannot see it.
Ah, I understand what you mean. I've done things a little differently this time, making use of a newer control option in SE which eliminates the need for forward/backward buttons.
- Slider controls the level. - Click on the waveform text display to select one from a list. - Click on the speed text display to select on from a list. |

Sounds good!
About the gui. It looks clean, very reminiscent of the M-Theory gui. But why didn't you choose for this one to make it more ehh.. square by making it less wide and increase hight by putting it into more rows from top to bottom? If you know what I mean? Making better use of screen space so that the knobs and sliders, etc. can be made a little bigger And when I think of Rez then I think of blue to be honest, but that's just me I'm looking forward to the final version |

Personally, I didn't like the look or workflow of stacking the controls for a square layout. Also, when I am working in a sequencer and have the GUI open, I prefer to have less vertical space blocked. Honestly, I prefer more compact controls. I realize not everyone agrees with my design choices, but my inspiration for my plug-ins has always been based on what I feel would make for a good addition to my collection, and how I would like it to look/function. The GUI for v1 was red. Musical Gym wrote: copper?
That could be tricky. Without the metallic feel, its easy for that to look more brown/rusted than copper. So I might have to go more photo-realistic to make copper work. Quote: Meaning of "Rez"

Interesting, I didn't know that. The source of my initial inspiration for Rez was the high resonance filter sound in Underworld's song, Rez. I didn't really achieve that sound, but I certainly liked what I ended up with. |
