We had another little trouble on Mac: Out of tune D#s in ACE and Zebra and hanging notes in Zebra AU in Logic (when stopping playback)

This should be gone in these builds:

http://www.u-he.com/downloads/Zebra252MacInstall.zip
http://www.u-he.com/downloads/ACE11MacInstall.zip

Please check it out so we can finally (!) send out newsletters.

Thanks,

;) Urs

Okay... the new versions are all up and going:

Uhbik Win http://www.u-he.com/downloads/Uhbik/Uhbik12Win.zip
Uhbik Mac http://www.u-he.com/downloads/Uhbik/Uhbik12Mac.zip

Filterscape Mac http://www.u-he.com/downloads/Filtersca ... nstall.zip
Filterscape Win http://www.u-he.com/downloads/Filtersca ... taller.zip

Zebra 2.5.2 Mac http://www.u-he.com/downloads/Zebra/Zeb ... nstall.zip
Zebra 2.5.2 Win http://www.u-he.com/downloads/Zebra/Zeb ... taller.zip

Does anyone spot any issue before we start spreading the news?

:)

More finals:

<snip>

Note: Filterscape presets are now .h2p - either install elsewhere or backup your old presets... to prevent any mess...

Please let me know about any issue, there's about 24 hours to fix them!

Thanks,

;) Urs

Final ACE:

Mac: http://www.u-he.com/downloads/ACE/ACE11MacInstall.zip
PC: http://www.u-he.com/downloads/ACE/ACE11Winstaller.zip

This is a few days old, except I've reworked large parts of the RTAS Mac support:

- PT is made aware that changing a parameter or switching a preset means a change in settings
- Compare functionailty waaaay improved
- preset name is retrieved correctly from stored project files

Win version will be repackaged with final HS add-on presets tomorrow. Release will be tomorrow night or Monday morning!

Cheers,

;) Urs

Final MFM2 installer:

PC: http://www.u-he.com/downloads/MFM/MFM21Wnstaller.zip
MAC: http://www.u-he.com/downloads/MFM/MFM21MacInstall.zip

Any issues?

;) Urs

Final changes to Zebra Mac-Version:

http://www.u-he.com/downloads/Zebra/Zeb ... nstall.zip

- fixed RTAS Window problems
- added RTAS ctrl-alt-cmd-click automation (finally!)

If anyone has time to check it - please do. Otherwise we're on go for release :)

Thanks,

;) Urs

Hi all,

This should be it:

http://www.u-he.com/downloads/u-he_Win_22062011.zip
http://www.u-he.com/downloads/u-he_MacAU64_22062011.zip

Many, many global and individual fixes, several possible crash bugs from previous versions resolved.

Note that Mac downloads are still AU 32/64 only. That's because VST needs the installer and the installer doesn't work without RTAS, and RTAS still has to be compiled on an older system. And both VST2 and RTAS will remain 32-bit on Mac until later this year.

If everything goes alright, the final versions will be released next week, with only minor modifications. Thus any feedback is welcome, and some minor niggles can certainly be addressed within the time frame.

Cheers,

;) Urs

Past news:

Yo,

I'll post updates and stuff here. Install at your own risk. But let me know how it goes :)

Dec20: Fixed Crackles in Bazille (PC), Zebra2 MSEG back to normal (Mac + PC), fixed silent Allpass8 on Zebra2 Win

64-Bit VST Win (just dlls, also 32-bit):

ACE: http://www.u-he.com/ACEWin64.zip
Bazille 04: http://www.u-he.com/BazilleWin64.zip
Zebra: http://www.u-he.com/Zebra25Win64.zip

64-Bit VST Win (installers, not updated):

Uhbik: http://www.u-he.com/downloads/Uhbik/Uhbik11Win.zip (no upd)
Filterscape: http://www.u-he.com/Filterscape13Win.zip (no upd)
MFM2: http://www.u-he.com/MFM21Win.zip (no upd)

64-Bit Mac AU (all updated)

ACE: http://www.u-he.com/ACEMacAU64.zip
Uhbik & Zebra: http://www.u-he.com/UhbikZebraAU64.zip
Bazille 04: http://www.u-he.com/BazilleMacAU64.zip

Notes:

The 64 bit versions for Windows are 64 bit .dll files for VST 2.4. The corresponding 32 bit files are not included.

The Mac version contains AUs in 32 and 64 bit flavours for IntelMacs and 32 bit binary for PowerPC, with Cocoa View (32+64) and Carbon View (32 bit only). these are in the same .component file (Universal Binary). There's also a VST with *identical binaries* that should operate in 32 bit, with only a Carbon View (afaik, there's no Cocoa option for VST2.x, hence they can't go 64 bit on Mac). The tricky part is, they're all generated within the same compile step even though that's supposedly impossoble. But hey, I'm lazy, it has to work like this. If it works.

I will subsequently update all project files for Zebra, Uhbik, Filterscape, MFM2 and whatever else there is. Whenever I did so, I'll post it here.

Any findings would be highly appreciated!

Thanks,

;) Urs

Hi Urs...

Tried the OS X versions and I had problems (mostly instant crashes) in the following:

Logic 9.0.2: AU Validation failed.

Live 8.1.4b2: Both AU and VST crashed, one immediately, the other after 2 minutes of use (also the VST I think, had a GUI issue where the bottom right was cut off)

Kore2.1.1: Both versions caused Kore to instantly crash.

I am on the latest version of OS X 10.6.3.

Hope this helps a bit!

Alan

I had no crashes with the AU in Ableton or Numerology or VST in Ableton, latest non-beta for each. The VST GUI loaded incorrectly, in a too-small window but would correct itself if the GUI size was changed twice.

I noticed the VST shows 'date modified' as May 25th, is that right?

Post

Thanks guys, I'll check it out.

I realized that the build was made with the 10.6 SDK (Snow Leopard) but I could've used 10.5 (Leopard).

I have only tested 64-bit against AU Lab, I'll install Reaper64/Logic64/others tomorrow.

The modification date of Bazille.vst may be right, I'm using a shell script to modify it and I guess that's something Finder doesn't catch...

Live and Kore are not 64 bit hosts, so that's why they crashed.

No sorry, there's a strange bug... affects 32 and 64 bit on Mac... only AUValidation seems to crash it, I'm onto it. Hope it's not another one of those weird bugs that take months to find...

Post

Okay... found some bugs, no biggies :)

I have Bazille, Zebra, Uhbik and ACE going on Mac. I think MFM2 and Filterscape will need some extra attention before porting so I'll try to move the former 4 to 64 bit on Win tomorrow and post them here.

Later,

;) Urs

Well, you can't properly wrap VST2 to VST3. But one could wrap VST3 to VST2.

Stupid question, is there a Cubase 64bit for Mac?

Post

No there isn't ..

there is only a beta for win..even Nuendo 5 is not 64 bit ready as far as i know.

cheers

Post

Hmmm, do Reaper, Bidule and or Metro support 64 bit VST3 on Mac? Live? Anything?

Post

I think Presonus Studio One does support 64 bit VST3 on Mac. Don't know it exactly because I use VST3 plugins in Studio One on a 32 bit Windows system but after reading the specs it looks like.

No, no, no, Cubase 5 and Nuendo 5 have full featured 64bit Windows versions! They are long out of Beta...Version 4 was available only as an unsupported preview.

Text from Presonus Website about 64 bit..hope it ok to post it here..
One of the reasons veteran DAW designers Wolfgang Kundrus and Matthias Juwan jumped at the chance to create a new program was because they could totally start fresh, instead of having to deal with old code that wasn't compatible with a next-generation audio engine.

For Studio One, they designed a highly optimized and streamlined codebase that makes minimal demands on your CPU. Studio One Pro's 64-bit, double-precision, floating-point audio engine produces fidelity that is equal to or better than that of the other leading DAWs. And with the ability to automatically switch between 64- and 32-bit operation on the fly, Studio One Pro can accommodate any combination of 32- and 64-bit plug-ins and still maintain the best possible sound quality. Studio One Artist uses a 32-bit version of the same engine and provides sound quality that is very nearly the equal of its 64-bit sibling.

Real-time auto/manual time-stretching and resampling capabilities are seamlessly integrated. You don't see them, you just use them.
