I have a Rev C receptor S/W 1.6 using crossover Uniwire to a win2K PC.
I have made a mess of the unsupported plugins directory by installing a large number of them into the receptor. They work fine but the directory is a kludge. So I tried to uninstall some of them with the intent to re-install in a cleaner hierarchical file structure (now that I have read the manual) but so far all the plugins I have tried to remove are still in the plugin list. I moved the *.dll to the recycle bin. Triple clicked the power and they are still there. If I try to install the plugin again in a different directory it fails. If I install back into the unsupported plugins directory it fails but the plugin works fine. The two plugins I tried to remove so far are EVM Ultrasonique and RT's ZR1. I have searched the forums for the uninstall but get pretty much the same thing as the manual. Also the install log file in reports do not show any of the unsupported plugin installs at all. Am I stuck with the mess I have or am I doing something wrong? Thanks in advance for your responses. |

After deleting the DLL's you have to "clear the plugin cache" by holding down the multi button and triple-clicking the power button. Keep the multi button pressed until you see "loading..." on the display. After boot, the unsupported plugins will be gone from the plugin list. Sometimes this can take a while, since it rebuilds the program list too...you'll see "scanning" on the setup page where "install" usually is until it's done. |

I tried this technique without success. After i press the button combination, nothing appears on the display, but receptor just freezes completely. I left it running overnight, but when it was still frozen in the morning, i just shut it down by holding the power button for a few secs. when powering up everything worked fine, but the uninstalled plugins where still in the list. Any tips on removing these are very welcome!
thanks. |

i will go into more detail:
i installed a plugin with the unsupported method. it worked but it was a demo version and i didn't want to buy it, so i uninstalled it by deleting the .dll in the unsupported plugins folder. now it still appears in the plugin list, but does not try to start anymore, because the dll file was deleted. when i do a search for the plugin on the receptor hard drive, 3 folders show up which i can't delete because i'm 'not authorized'. I would be glad to find out how i can get this plugin out of the plugin list. the plugin im talking about is fabfilter timeless. |

I am no means an expert but I had a few of these as well (went crazy installing pages of unsupported plugs). I found that if you just delete the *.dll file, you could not delete the directory folder. What I ended up having to do in this case was re-install the plug-in and then drag the *.dll file to the recycle bin. Only then could I delete the directory folder. Then when I did the multi-3click method, the plug-in was gone from the list. So apparently there is a difference between deleting the file and dragging it to the recycle bin. Good Luck. |

this does not seem to work with me, because as soon i drag the file to the recycle bin, it asks if i want to delete it permanently.. |

That's correct. I am assuming that you originally deleted the file using another method other than dragging the *.dll to the recycle bin; ie file manager delete or pressing the delete key with the file highlighted. Receptor does not appear to acknowledge this type of deletion. Only the recycle bin seems to delete the file correctly. The point being: if you used the recycle bin method you should be able to delete the directory folder you created for the plug-in under unsupported plug-ins. I believe this method properly deletes the file in the Receptor and allows the plug-in to be removed from the list when the plug-ins are rescanned. I do not know what directories you found searching the Receptor's drive but you should only remove and you need to remove the one made under unsupported plug-ins and the files the Receptor made when it installed the plug-in. You should be able to do that using any deletion method. I hope this makes sense. |

it worked! somehow i threw away ONLY the .dll file from the unsupported folder, then pressed multi + 3 times power. and that already did the trick.
great! |

Once again, KVR forum searches beat manuals... Thanks for posting this info. |
