Another One-Synth-Challenge is upon us!
vanmorrison was charged with the task of choosing the featured synth for this comp, but once again, a little bit of coercion came into play! However, who cares? ... we have the pleasure of squeezing some sounds out of TAL-Noisemaker! It was recently updated, so I'm sure many of you will want to give this beast a go!
Create a track using only Noisemaker for all the sounds, including percussion!
Download Noisemaker here ....
http://kunz.corrupt.ch/?Products:VST_TAL-NoiseMaker
* * * * * * THE RULES ( please read fully) * * * * * *
The track can be made in any host.
All the sounds in our tracks will be created by TAL-NoiseMaker
* * * FX * * *
Fx are limited to Delay ( unmodulated ), static spatial ( reverb, ambience, ADT etc ), dynamics ( comp, limit, gate ), EQ ( inc. exciters etc ) and stereo fx ( pan/autopan/width enhancers etc )
If in doubt, give us a shout ... but in any case, Noisemaker has some interesting and versatile integral fx ... so why waste cpu adding unnecessary gear and fart around with send channels?
..... Important!......
Other than the hosts native EQ,
All Fx used must .....
**be freeware, and easily available via download.
**generally usable in a wide range of hosts
**not be used in such a way as to transform the sounds to a degree
which makes them unrecognisable as those achievable from NoiseMaker
..... otherwise you will be strung up by the ring modulators and be subjected to anal hog distortion!
.... Fx footnote .... it is a generally held view that in the spirit of the comp, although we all like to create and hear well produced tracks, we should use as few Fx as we dare! ... it all adds to the challenge!
*** There is no track length limit.... but be aware of the prevalence of ARISTOTLE syndrome ( All Right, I'm Suddenly Thinking, Ouch That's Long Enough )
* * * * * How to Submit your Track * * * * *
**** Finished tracks, in mp3 format, should be uploaded here ...
http://soundcloud.com/groups/kvr-osc-3/dropbox
All tracks, and info re this and previous comps can be accessed on the dedicated OSC site here...
http://sites.google.com/site/kvrosc/home
For the sake of clarity, name your track in the following format ...
.... Title of Track - Artist Name ( in that order pleeeze! )
When you have successfully uploaded your track, announce your submission in the thread, and give brief details of what you have used ( host, how many instances of NoiseMaker, which fx, how many instances.. etc. )
**Please do NOT post separate, external links to tracks you wish to be included in the comp.
CLOSING DATE for submissions is Sunday 3rd October 2010
* * * * * How is the comp judged? * * * * *
The comp will be judged by the votes of KVR members. Depending on the number of submitted tracks, the voting may take the shape of a single vote poll, or a more flexible multiple vote option.
* * * * * And the prizes? * * * * *

If "noisemaker" is a describtion of what this synth is suited for in terms of music as well, I won't be a part of this osc! glitchy, dissonant drones isnt really my strong side.
I'm still drawn to it though, given the usual top notch quality of the TAL synts.

Sure you didn't forget to record the right channel of your track? For me it sounds all left.

Hi Toto, miss your usually excellent entries, but on the other hand it gives some of us a chance to place higher..
About Noisemaker, I just flipped through the presets when it was released and was slightly underwhelmed and thought a lot of the rave was because of the nice GUI (which we have to admit is a huge point for people), but after working a bit with it see that it is all justified.. Excellent drum sounds too.
And nice to finally get to work with a synth where all the controls are understandable and what we are used to. Can get right to writing instead of figuring.
3rd party reverb is free, but TAL reverbs are good for plates and seems to be the same onboard here.

Update on prizes. I am awaiting confirmation of an arrangement with MaxSynths to add at least one extra prize for this and future comps!
But for now, just want to thank Max very much for his continued support of OSC.
