I'm splashing on a Guitar library and I'm doing my research. Currently loving the sound of Evolution Acoustic Guitar - Steel Strings. Is it fair to say that this is the best on the market at the moment - even though it's relatively new?
Some additional thoughts would be great if anyone has experience with it in relation to other libraries. Thanks, Colin |

Hi guys, I am also looking to invest in an acoustic sound bank.
I will hopefully be purchasing it tonight. Do you think the Orange tree samples are still the best way to go? - http://www.orangetreesamples.com/evolution-acoustic-guitar-s teel-strings I aim to create pieces similar to this style, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1i78rVFCgM Would this be achievable by the use of this pack? Many thanks EDIT: I have just come across Acoustic Legends HD - http://www.vir2.com/instruments/acoustic-legends-hd Would anyone recommend this over Orange? |

http://www.indiginus.com/agc.html Of course, you need Kontakt, but the library is huge, sounds great, and is very nicely priced. thanks for bringing this up, just bought it. Very affordable and the strummaker thingy is really cool. ---- new Dusk to Dawn Song ! Synth-Pop / New-Wave https://soundcloud.com/dusktodawn/dusk-to-dawn-traces-synth-pop |

All i really need (as you can hear from the example track i posted) is simple chord patterns. Would you anyone else recommend this over the Orange Tree Samples package? |

other ? On the free side there's Spicy http://www.spicyguitar.com/ Whether or not it's up to your standards sonically, it's got a really interesting keyboard interface. That's really the problem with guitar samples/models in general. The best guitar patch can sound like a harpsichord really easily. And in the hands of someone who is really seriously skilled (and/or inspired) with the whole "guitaristic" voicing on keyboards, the most basic guitar soundfont can be fully convincing. |

I highly recommend any OTS instrument, and from the sounds of it, EAG Steel Strings is no exception. The real problem I have with Acoustic Legends HD is that it seems to not have any hammer-ons/pull-offs or slides, both of which I'd really like in an acoustic guitar instrument. Other than that ALHD seems to be a decent instrument. ---- "Be excellent to each other." Probably a not so useful post... Give a real guitar a try! Pick one up and have a go! I did and im so glad i did! Im no master but it's so fun and once your fingertips get's toughened and your hands have learned the fretboard you'll learn songs fast and be able to come up with new ones! It's a very good relaxation also. But unless you're an amateur like me who only makes music for peace of mind and you do it for a living with a tight schedule .. well, you can still do it just for the fun Good luck guys and good thread. A guitar vsti is still usefull as you can make a quick foundation and then record it real once the arrangement is done. Personally i'd like to find one for making backingtracks for my soloing joy on my electric guitar ---- Mulab-MUX-Diversion-TX16Wx-SKNOTE-Charlatan-Valhalla-GordonSmith-YamahaTHR10-Trackspacer-TheDrop/Glue-Drumaxx-VOS-DC8C [i5 2500K @ 4,3GHz] [8Gb DDR3] [200Gb+ SSD][M-Audio Delta 24/96 PCI] |

I just heard about these guys http://www.ilyaefimov.com/ And I think the guitar sounds amazing probably the closest to a real guitar that I have heard. And they have a strum version which sounds... Well! Just check the demos. I'm definitely buying this when I get back from my hols. |

I still say that RealGuitar from MusicLab is among the best things you can get. Even better if you know how to "combine" two modes (with a keyboard split)/use the ToolBox plugin. Learning is a steep courve however. And I highly advise you to USE EQ and Compression.
A little bit outdated however considering the competition with samples for Kontakt. But still a lightweight on both CPU and RAM. Wish Musiclab would port the RG2L brain over to the RealStrat or RealLPC brain. But, it turned a bit silent around them. Oh and, check out this vid what you can do with either one of those plugins: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USxilL6-Dx8 (take a listen to the "Angie" cover at about 1:25) And here's a 101 series (part 2): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2xN7gLHCyk Here are some audio demos by one of the many Musiclab users: http://www.musiclab.com/community/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1341 6 (take a listen to "Never said I'm sorry" on the linked page, and "Just Tell Me") While I'm at it, here's another page for demos. Some not so good, some very outstanding. Keep in mind, they're from 2005! But there are some gems among them (like J van E, kevvvvv, Rikke Lind, Matthew Lien and Tyris Washington) http://www.musiclab.com/community/forum/viewtopic.php?t=637 And if everything fails, this VSTi can still be used to control other guitar samples. Though here I clearly recommend using RealStrat or RealLPC. |

I use all three of musiclabs guitar VST's and though it has a learning curve, you can really get a good guitar sound and I have blast playing them. the acoustic VST realguitar2 is amazing sounding. |

RealGuitar is a a very deep, powerful and great sounding program although it has a few quirks / bugs (at least when used within my DAW, Acid Pro 7) and is not ultra-intuitive. That said, the strumming sounds quite convincing, and some of the arpeggiated patterns are sublime |
