I was pretty excited a few months ago when Muse put out the 1.9 update. The smart snapshots feature looks very interesting. However I've noticed that my unit seems more unstable overall when compared the previous 1.8 OS. Mostly, when I change multi patches (both via MIDI p/c and on the unit itself) the Receptor will reboot itself often. After 3 or 4 attempts I can sometime get it to open the multi patch I was trying to open but often it just defaults to a blank patch. Im not sure if this could be because I have multiple instances of OP-X Pro II running in some multi patches, but I never recall this happening so often in OS 1.8. Im using a Receptor 2 Pro.

Anyone else noticing anything unusual like this since upgrading to OS 1.9?

I had problems like that with 1.9 until I disabled multiprocessor support. Disabling that seemed to stabilise everything fine....

I've heard that solution a few times now...

I've got to ask ~ Where's the benefit of Multi-Processor support?

Hey all,

From a support standpoint I can't say we've encountered an increase in complaints about stability with the OS 1.9 upgrade (aside from this thread at KVR). When it comes to stability it's best to troubleshoot for patterns in the crash, or check if a newer version of the plugin in question is available ( I know the latest version of Massive fixes a lot of stability issues with that plugin). It's also worth noting that the OS update will turn off the Z-load option on the setup page. If your someone who has relied on that in the past for added stability or speed I'd recommend double checking that it's still on.

As always I invite anyone who continues to experience a lot of issues with stability to open a ticket at plugorama.com and upload their multi patches. We'd like to see what some of these crashes are like, as it's always in our best interest to improve the stability and reliability of our product.

As a side note: the mulitcore option on the setup page enables a special setting where each new plugin thats instantiated is assigned a different core in the processor depending in a manner designed to maximize efficiency.

Thanks to everyone for the replies so far. I only post this stuff because I LOVE my Receptor and want to maximize its full potential!

After some careful experimentation this weekend, I figured out the following steps to prevent the crashing:

1. DISABLE (Uncheck) Multi-core support OFF
2. ENABLE (Check) Z-Load ON

This is the only combination that I have found that prevents a crash when changing multis. As mentioned earlier, sometimes a crash/reboot will automatically check/uncheck something in which case I have to a) clear cache b) load blank patch c) redo steps 1 and 2.

Bryan, perhaps you can elaborate on the advantages / disadvantages of having multi-core support enabled? Any benefit(s) is apparently outweighed at the current moment... Very Happy
