I'm probably one of the last people to know this, but actually... The doctor is back since 30th March 2013, and we're already at S07EP08.
I just saw the first EP after the special, also some snippets from the following EP and I must say... damn I'm impressed. The show is really going full cycle here. Back to "more epic", back to "more aliens" and "back on earth", also finally back a bit to "current timeline" (not near future like 2015-2030 with the Ponds). Not only that, the OST is haunting as ever, there are tons of hints and cross references to earlier doctors and episodes (like: the children book by Amelia Williams - aka Amy Pond, U.N.I.T. is also back, and tons of hints at very old foes). Also, the end of this particular Episode sent shivers down my spine at the end. Totally didn't expect that. There is a lot more to come. Like the Cybermen in one of the last episodes of the season (S07EP12 - Nightmare in Silver), though they will get a design overhaul, but the story is apparently by Neil Gaiman. Yes, the(!) Neil Gaiman that brought us "The Sandman" graphic novels. We'll also see the return of Strax, Jenny Flint and Madame Vastra. And I really hope they get a spinoff. And hopefully we'll get more Torchwood in the process as well. A lot of dark sh*t must have happened in between. So yeah. There are also some news knows about the 50th Anniversary Special. Looks like we see meetup of the 10th with the 11th, for real time time. And we'll also see Rose and Clara in the same flik. It will be in 3D, though I could give a rat's butt about it. But we'll see how that turns out. Sadly, no 9th (he declined) and the earlier incarnations weren't asked (which is a damn shame). Featured aliens are said to be the "Zygons", though since I barely know of the Doctor EP's pre the 8th (the movie), I don't know what's up. On a sidenote however, no news of any kind regarding River Song. I think that arc is finally over - sadly. And the only "good" ending I consider to that arc, is with the videogame "The Eternal Clock". And that is locked to the PS3. So yeah, good news, another great SciFi show back on TV. Though the fun will be short (18th May latest), and then we're on a dry run until 23th November, and then the Christmas Special of course. But at least we might another(!) season of Doctor Who. Coleman confirmed that she will return - I sure hope she does, I want to know what's up with the "several Oswalds" storyline. Though we have to wait and see what happens with the 11th up until this point (see S07EP07). |

They only just showed the first one here a couple of days ago. I was a bit wary, but yeah I enjoyed it. So much better without the Ponds. Matt Smith might be able to shine if the writers get their act together. He could've already been a great Dr, but everything else was pants in the last two series. I still reserve judgement as (IMO) Dr Who lost its way by a looooooooong way recently.
The new sidekick - most shaggable. But then I initially thought that about Pond, until I later wanted to just slap her. |

To me, Clara is a one of a kind... an equal being (currently). She's more towards Donna, but she's not Donna. And that "several persons over several timelines" thing is an interesting storyline.
The plot thickens now that there are four EPs out with both Clara. The doctor is also more mysterious, more... oldschool. He has control over the Tardis again (meaning, he's not late or overly stupid anymore), he's still slow thinking however. But he got back traits from the 10th (being slightly evil) and there are a lot(!) of hints towards old shows with the 11th as well. So yeah... I like the current direction. |

pity the episodes themselves havent been so great. this weeks was the strongest of the lot, except for the massive glaring flaw at the end... ---- To laymen, software development is something akin to wizardry. I'm curious about the "next" (Heart of the Tardis) and the one with the revival of the Cybermen. I'm really curious how that turns out.
Remember, it took a while for the 11th as well to establish a basic story with the Ponds. The longer it ran, the better it was, the more you hated certain characters (I at least did so). And... since we had a reset of the Dalek in the beginning of this season, let's see how they will be in "coming" seasons. Unless they are really dropped - and please, back to the designs of 2005. |

I'm sure I read somewhere she's in this series finale, think it mentioned the old 'question' malarky would possibly be resolved too. Only watched the first two, a bit meh to be honest. Entertaining in a saturday teatime family kind of way but I'm not going to worry about bigger arcs anymore. And no one will top Donna as sidekick imho.... ---- ()_() (O.o) (")(") |

Donna was one of the best companions of all time.
