Condolences to family, friends and colleagues with your loss. A very talented individual who I had the pleasure of corresponding with on numerous occasions mostly in respect of his earlier work with the lovely Morgana.
A sad day for many of us in the music community on all levels that recognise his contribution to both the technical and artistic which is reflected in his fine work and the wonderful creative tools he developed and brought to us. RIP dj! ---- E and O Excepted |

Although I never had any direct contact with dj!, I always read his posts with interest. He always had many interesting views and just the fact that he created such fantastic creations such as Morgana and Redline Monitor showed that he had an eye for the kind of details that only a person with passion could have.
I mourn with you. /C |

I met dj! some 5+ years ago here on KVR. I had an idea to develop a vintage sampler virtual instrument, and I put out an open call for a developer with which to collaborate. dj! was the only developer to answer my call, but had there been a million responses, it would not have mattered - dj! was the one. I felt that he was absolutely the perfect match for this idea.
As we started to work together online (we never mt in person, with myself residing in Omaha, NE USA and dj! in Utrecht, Netherlands), I quickly began to understand that dj! was an extraordinary individual. He was a talented photographer, an avid snowboarder, a great musician, and if the stories are to be believed, a phenomenal cook. All of this aside from his obvious academic and professional success in the field of Computer Science. dj! and I developed a close relationship on both the professional and personal level. In our time together at 112dB he was my colleague, my mentor, my business partner, and my best friend. Although I was basically just a kid in my early 20s with no degree and no professional experience and in other respects the disparities were obvious (in our 'other' lives, he was cranking out products at audio ease, while I was cranking out lattes and cappuccinos) dj! always treated me as his equal, recognizing something valuable in me that I didn't always see in myself. Co-developing Morgana is still easily the hallmark of my resumé, and I want it to be known that my departure from 112dB had nothing to do with any dissatisfaction with dj! on any level. Essentially, I was experiencing some personal issues that interfered with my ability to give dj! anything approaching my 50% share of the responsibilities, and I felt that as I had no resolution to my troubles he would be better off without the uncertainty of an unreliable partner. I think many people would have rightfully resented me for this course of action, but if dj! did, he never let on. He was one of the kindest people I have ever known. I can say without hesitation that dj! has had, with the exception of my father, the most positive influence on my life that anybody has had. To anybody who ever had the pleasure of getting to know him personally, this should be no surprise. Rest In Peace, dj! -Claude Climer Last edited by uvacom on Wed Feb 02, 2011 12:48 pm; edited 1 time in total |
