Here is a little flute synth (programmed in Zebra) Jam drowned in Valhalla Space (VRoom and ÜberMod):

I have a question - if I want to do the classic gated drum reverb sound in V-Room, what are the best sounding algorithms for this? Or is it all a matter of preference? |

If you are mixing in the Late reverb with the early (i.e. setting DEPTH to more than 0%), I'd recommend using the following algorithms to avoid coloration: Large Room Large Chamber Dark Chamber Dark Space Sulaco The other algorithms might have a bit of ringing when set to very short decay values, or might have strange amplitude behavior at the lowest decay settings. In general, if you are using the Early section as a gate, you can probably keep DEPTH set to 0%. At this point, you can make your decision based on whether you want a brighter or darker sound, as the Early section in the Dark/Alien algorithms will have less high frequencies. This would probably give you a more "authentic" gated sound. Using Narcissus or Sulaco will give you the lowest CPU in this case. Here's a good gated reverb starting point: <ValhallaRoom pluginVersion="1.1.0" presetName="NarcissusDrumGate" mix="1" predelay="0.00319999992" decay="0.00130130129" HighCut="0.530201316" earlyLateMix="0" lateSize="0" lateCross="0" lateModRate="0.0909090936" lateModDepth="0" RTBassMultiply="0.333333343" RTXover="0.0909090936" RTHighMultiply="0.411111116" RTHighXover="0.238255039" earlySize="0.19729729" earlyCross="0" earlyModRate="0.0909090936" earlyModDepth="0.119999997" earlySend="1" diffusion="1" type="0.75"/> I've set the Late Size to 0.0, and the DECAY to a short setting, in order to add a bit more thickness to the gate when DEPTH is greater than 0%. Sorry I didn't explain myself better, I was more thinking about getting a massive reverb sound that will be processed by an external gate. I'm just wondering what algorithms and settings will be ideal for a snare drum. I should prolly just go experiment. |

Hey I have an idea for Mr Valhalla as a preset.
A tempo-synced reverb that goes wub wub wub on the low end and a leslie on the top end. I have no idea what it will sound like but I would like to hear it. And what about an effect that simulates being underwater? If you had a multi-effect rack plug-in instead, similar to the structure you get with keyboard workstations, that had reverbs, chorus, delays, distortion, compressors, etc. totally configurable and flexibly routable... then people can get more creative and experimental with presets. Use your excellent re-sizeable GUI, using tabs for each different FX block. You'd then be competing with Guitar Rig though. But if you priced it right, it would be a no-brainer purchase. Sounds like a good start, if you like that ching chingery feel. How does the middle bit go again? Really like the ending, weeeeeeeeeeeeeeoooooooooooooooooooooooooooossssshhhhhh. ---- perception: the stuff reality is made of. |

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JXItfg3mmEE It would be hard to beat the "ching!" at the beginning of this track. Sean Costello ---- Plugins: http://www.valhalladsp.com Blog: http://valhalladsp.wordpress.com KVR Subforum: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=146 |

It works better for me to concentrate on more specialized plugins, as opposed to all-in-one solutions. I'd rather dial in deep on one effect, as opposed to figuring out how to route a bunch of effects. ValhallaÜberMod is kind of a multi-effect plugin, but in the sense that it is "close enough to the metal" to create all sorts of effects. You can get reverbs, chorus, delays, distortion, flanging, gated reverbs, etc. Sean Costello ---- Plugins: http://www.valhalladsp.com Blog: http://valhalladsp.wordpress.com KVR Subforum: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=146 |

Not just multi-effects, but great for multidimensional perceptual panoramas, like recursive reflective insights into the eternal nature of the transient caffeinated self. ---- perception: the stuff reality is made of. |

I started back on coffee in the last few weeks. Trying to finish up the next plugin. My wife just staged an intervention last night. Back to green tea for me.
