I just listened to "Boogie Nights" by Heatwave. always assumed there was synth bass in there but now I'm not sure. The solo is definitely a synth, along with a talkbox or something.

Yep. A party classic, no doubt. I love that synth solo, the sound is just so smooth and the melody melts like butter on a hot bun.

Here's an interesting find: A modern Boogie cut (from 2009) doing the vintage boogie sound:

Hard to beat

Another jewel from the 80s by ........ Amazing Grace :

( A lot of instrumental before the vocals ! Great version for those who like arrangements. You can check also the live version where she's playing hulla hoop during all the song while singing : Amazing ..... )

Well he said that he would try to cook up some funky gumbo, and he certainly did. I love it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7d36r0gZJE

That's what i'm talking about.

Then you go and follow his links to Myspace and get this, P-Funk Mothership extravaganza. As great as it is, and it really is authentic and cool with the next wave of G-Funksters cuing up to sample each song, where the smoking clav is that raw synth Funk he just demonstrated on YouTube Crying or Very sad

Yo, Mr.Funkscribe! Get your ass back on that Prodigy/ProSoloist/D6 and do an album worth of classic and raw synth Funk ! Mad

Check this out! Cool

Soul/Funk with a few synth for a good measure...the thing is, with tracks like this it is immaterial whether there are synths or not.

I'm levitating....

There's a channel on Youtube, called 'GravityLimited.' It's got a bunch of quality, live-action Parliament stuff.

Cool A cool little synth, and chunky Funk vibe. A great find. Thanks bluedad.
This makes me want to do the same with my obscure Korg 700. But I'm not brave enough having rubbish chops. Laughing
