-----------------------------------------------------------
Camel Audio's Alchemy Player 1.20 Now Free
-----------------------------------------------------------

Alchemy Player 1.20 is a major update to Camel Audio's
popular SFZ and Alchemy sound playback engine, and what's
more it's now completely free.

Image
Alchemy Player now allows you to load and play any SFZ file,
and comes with 150 presets (1200 variations) plus an extra
50 sounds if you register, with a total of 1 GB of samples.
You can extend your sound palette with Camel Audio's
extensive Alchemy Sound Library range. Alchemy Player
supports all major formats on both Windows and Mac including
VST, AU and RTAS in 32-bit and 64-bit flavours.

Alchemy Player can now play back highly detailed sample
libraries of acoustic instruments, as it now supports
round-robin and key-switching plus unlimited keyboard zones
and velocity layers. Alchemy Player may be the only sample
player you ever need, since it can now load third-party or
converted SFZ libraries. When you load an SFZ file, Alchemy
automatically creates eight remix pad variations using
different effects and modulations.

Looks haven't been ignored either, with on the fly switching
of skins, a streamlined and easier-to-read face-lift for the
default skin, plus a new Nightshade skin for those who find
a darker look easier to work with.

This update took over two man-years to create with numerous
other enhancements and bug fixes. Alchemy Player 1.20 is
slicker, more powerful and faster than ever, and is now
completely free. Head over to www.camelaudio.com to grab
your copy.

And what's even more amazing, dunno if it's a bug in the installer or whatever, but it detected me as having a full version (which I don't have!), so it overwritten all my files, and now I have additional 4 weeks of testing the full mode!

Gee, thanks! :)

Oh, BTW, the Nightshade skin is MUCH BETTER than the old one! Totally suits my style and workflow!

The new 4 week demo period is normal - we do that for each updated version so people can try Alchemy again with new features and bug fixes. Not sure why you would see the "full version" message. Possibly a bug with setup - is this the first time you've installed v1.20? And you are updating from v1.12? Are you on Mac or Win?

Great!

I was updating from 1.12, Win XP SP2 32-bit, first v1.20 installation.

Thanks for allowing us to test the full version with each update! This is an EXTREMELY FAIR trait you guys have with your products! I will be honest - I don't use Alchemy Player as much as I'd want (need a better PC!), but I never EVER regretted a single dollar I've sent to you guys. You have a great business, and definitely keep it up!

I got the same warning message (although I have not switched the Player to Full Mode). I was also updating from 1.12, Win XP SP2 32-bit, first v1.20 installation.

@ED: What got overwritten apart from the factory files?

Nightshade's good for me, too. "Deadly" ;)

Well, just that. :) It proceeded to be a normal installation, no harm done to any of my files.

Strange ?

Many sounds from the Sonatina Symphonic Orchestra soundbank plays with the keys mapped wrong in Alchemy.
In SFZ player and Extreme Sample Converter it plays right !

How can that be ?
Something you should maybe check out Andy

Is the problem that the notes are 1 octave out? I'll download the library now and take a look.

Peace,
Andy.

Does Alchemy only recognize root notes by explicit name of the key (i.e. C3)? That might pose a problem. Can't it recognize root notes that are expressed with MIDI note number? That should be possible before v2, for example, if it's not yet there. :)
