Who, me? I said I didn't mean to sound ungrateful. Just curious what the point is in spending the time to do it, if it doesn't offer any protection, and slows down delivery, as each copy must be monogrammed. ---- ![]() |

Quinto is more interested in making new plugins/versions than worrying about copy protection. He's said this before.
Sure, there's nothing stopping you from giving this plugin to a friend, other than the fact that you know that means less money to a boutique developer who has been more than generous in his policy (I bought Roundtone v1 and I'm on v3 with lots of new features and it cost me zero). And less money to Quinto means less great new plugins for us. |

I did not mean it in that way. I am simply saying that people who use it should buy it if they are not using there own copy.
I can see how it is a little annoying I do hate to wait. but at the same time I like looking at my name on my plugins. Makes me like yea I own this. If you are having to wait a while I would say email quinto I bother him so much and he always is quick to reply. |

And actually more and more developers are taking this way of doing things. to me I like the personalized feel of how it works. I dont have to call up and be told to check the site then the site says call in then I have to chat with a tech not to name any names but there are a few companys that do this |

ha yea you are right its all confusing now. okay so basically there is your name as a copy protect meaning not really any. Why because quinto wants to work on improving and making new things not on worrying how to set up the next copy protection. Personally I like having it with my name on it. No there is nothing to stop you from sharing but your own decency. And I agree some times waiting for the plugin is lame but if it takes a while email quinto he is always quick to respond.

the end I totally get that he wants to work on new plug-ins and not copy-protection - really guys, I get it - but that's the point: why bother hand-coding our names in if it takes up his time? Isn't that the opposite of freeing more time to make new plug-ins? I'm not really complaining here, I just don't see the logic. Just something that makes me think; a talking point, mostly. I love Quinto and his plug-ins, and lord knows I've shelled out for most of them. I've just never heard an answer that actually makes sense. ---- ![]() |

It is very simple! - copy protection doesn't exist (just read in forums how many 18yrs boys use big expensive suites and "Nuendo instead of Cubase because someone says it sounds better") - each copy is identified. It is the only thing we can do. If a serious company shows a window with somebody else's name it is not that elegant. If a copy goes on eMule I can see where it comes from - it doesn't take much time per se. It would be exactly the same if I'd send a license key. The point is: the whole delivery system needs automation. Coming soon... - technical copy protection means costs (added to the price), cpu load (even if very low, it is there), code complexity (I was never able to have my Cubase 3 with its key to be stable) The way we choose here is making piracy ridiculous and making all better by a proper web system (coming...) |

Thanks for the answers on copy protection, Quinto and all. So how about that demo? Does it exist? Cant blame a guy for being skeptical when something akin to Slate FG-X or Waves MLS is offered for pennies, compared to what the other guys charge. Presumably there's also a refund guarantee (unheard of for software)! Has anyone actually gotten a refund for a plugin they didn't like after buying and trying it? |

I got a refund along time ago from a plugin of a different company. but I Have never been unhappy with sknote stuff they sound great. But if you are looking for like put it in and you hear night and day with rountone you can if you push it and use the dirty modes but I like it for subtle tones all over the mix. |

This schema is much better than any ILOK or whatever. If plugins apperar on certain torrents you can determine where they came from and take proper action....
And the user is not regarded as a potential criminal.... mink |
