GREAT WORK. question, when you modulate the cutoff of the Prodigy the Drop wave in the spectrum moves as well, yet when you move the Drop by itself, its wave moves independent of the Prodigy on the time/amp wave spectrum analyisis. Why is that?

In the end, when you turn off the visuals it will be impossible to distinguish b/t the two. wow

The spectrum switches to only show only what you can hear, but the scope shows both the waveforms at once, and is triggered off a rising edge on the waveform of The Drop. The cutoffs are independent, it must just be a visual illusion that it looks like the scope waveform is changing of one waveform when the other cutoff is being modulated.

Scope..yeah, that's the word I was looking for Whatever the case,...you've presented a good one. Really looking forward to the result of your labour. I just wonder how in the world you matched all the minor (somewhat unpredictable) fluctuations inherent in such analogue output,...but that is the maths portion I suppose.

The unpredictable fluctuations all arise from modelling the circuit properly, they aren't something added on later. They are mainly due to the self oscillation harmonics and the oscillator harmonics fighting with each other in complicated ways due to the different non-linear current flow through the circuit.

I wouldn't have thought of that, but it makes perfect sense, in the context of analogue aspect of filters. Hm, interesting. That seems like an extremely tedious measuring process. Reminds me of splicing 100pr fiber optic cable some years ago.

Now I'll move onto the Roland SH-2 / SH-9 / SH-101 / Juno 60 filter. Each one is slightly different so I'm going to breadboard them and see which I like best, I have 4 IR3109 chips and 4 BA662 chips, the rest of the components are pretty standard in the circuits. After that is the finalising of the MS20 rev1 filter, which I already have a pretty good model but I need to add a couple little extra bits to it to get it sounding right.

Have a 60 here. I can listen to this baby on hold all day, I swear. Something about these envelopes too. I heart it. Anyway, good luck with your tests and big thanks for the update here, fun to watch it come together.

Here is another take of The Drop head to head with the Moog Prodigy, this time I've matched the audio levels of the two! I had a separate send for the oscilloscope so things looked matched, but I didn't match the audio levels properly on the last video, the volume of The Drop was lower than the Prodigy. This is basically the same thing, but a bit fairer a comparison. Thanks to Karloff70 for letting me know about this!

I use filtering a lot in my music, I would definitely give Andy my money right now and just use the algo's that are done though i am sure his perfectionism will benefit us greatly. I even bought the new macbook pro for this plug because I knew that my dualcore iMac was not going to be powerful enough for the Drop
