Anyone tried this EQ yet? Is it good enough to sedate you Very Happy. Claims to be the most transparent EQ ever. I played with it briefly, pretty good. Doesn't have a spectrum analyzer though.

I have their latest download package, the idea of a transparent eq looked cool, but it sounds like any other.

CPU usage is quite high, especially at the higher oversampled rates (up to 32x with 44.1kHz).

Claims to feature a "unique transparent sound". Of course, it can't be both. I found nothing unique about it, so I'm going with transparent.

On the plus side, it offers M/S processing and looks very pretty.

It looks lovely, but i find it a bit annoying you only get one high pass so you can't stack them for deep cuts. I always think in an EQ of this type, every single band type of each band should be selectable by the user. Anyone agree?

Yes, I agree Theo. I think what you suggested would make the eq more flexible. Also, I tend to think in general that there should be more control over these filters in a lot of eqs. For instance, I think DDMF stuff is quite fine, especially for the asking price, but I never quite got on with the filters. Something about the slopes I didn't like and just couldn't find something I liked. On a lot of settings, I found the high pass filters thinning my sound out quite a bit more than I would have anticipated so it took me longer to find my sweet spots. Guess I'm going on a tangent here. But nice suggestion!

I will have to demo this, loved the idea of Equilibrium but it's $270+ bucks. This is $25 for the year and you can upgrade. Anyone done any direct comparisons for basic quality of the algorithm?

Could be just the thing I've been looking for it's its good enough.

are you serious Sami? First time i am going to Smack you.

This is a fixed band EQ that is even less flexible than equality (as that at least has two low cuts)

I'll demo it later to be sure, but you pay for what you get sometimes you know?

Their maximizer was not good at all, so personally i am not expecting the EQ to be good OR bad, i am just going to test it with no expectations.

From a feature set point of view however, it is about 1/10th if that of what equilibrium does. There isn't ANY comparison. I am surprised you chose to compare it to that. I would have chosen equality, or psp neon for a comparison.
(and either would have kicked it's butt)
(both have analysers and some exclusive features as well as various modes of linear phase.. this is not linear phase at all)

Actually there is a free EQ out there on windows.. i forget it's name but it was modelled on equality.. FREE.. and i bet you it's as good as this. Look it up.

it's a JADEQ. Took me 5 minutes to test it. Easy to use and sounds nice sure, gentle high boost but once i got the q right i managed to get the exact sound out of fab filter at the same gain (11 db at 10.1 khz)

a bit of an extreme figure but this was a test.

same with bass (146 hz at 10 db)

cut at 500 hz -10db was able to be matched also.

It's own curves are slightly different, that's all, even when they look the same as other eq's. He's just done his own internal thing. There is no magic here, nothing special happening, other than a normal, pleasant to use parametric equalizer.

it's an $100 product by the way, 25 is for one year. For me, i am removing it after this message, there is no use, i already have a much better tool (pro Q)

Cheers

Er, 25 for a year, 99 lifetime. WTF does this mean?

25 for all updates for the next year, or does the thing expire after a year? Seems strange to me.

Hmmm. I have never heard of JADEQ. I wonder where I can download it from. Sounds neat. By the way Theo, wanted to mention that I ended up getting the Mellowmuse Limiter. Ha your limiter post swayed me.

Check out my other post in the Neve eq thread. Too bad vst isn't a native logic format cause the cdsoundmaster eq is fantastic and there's even a free version with limited bands. But maybe there is a vst to au plugin. I don't know how that works but worth checking out for a freebie. I bought the full version and still blown away.

Yeah I'm confused by that too. I don't like the idea of renting plugins. It feels like I am owing something when I should feel like am owning that something,.
