Can someone explain how to automate the morphing of Cameleon patches in Sonar and/or FLS? The morphing in Tim's demo MP3 is along the lines of what I would like to achieve. I would also like to vary the time frame of the modulation. Any ideas?

I think the most simple way to morph between two sounds in slot A and B, is to go to the Modulation Page to assign Modulation Wheel as a Source and MorphHarmX as a Destination. Then record the modwheel movements in your host.

OK! I'll try to figure out what you just said and try it out Thanks, Gordon |

I tried it but only ModSource 1 as a automatable parameter in FLS. There is no link to modulation wheel.

Thanks, Gordon Don't know about Sonar, but from with in CA 5000: Check out some of the presets for how to do this. Go to Mod Morphs and look at the MM-AnalogBass-Plucked. Click on the Mod tab and you will see the MW assigned to MorphAmpX, MorphHarmX, and MorphNoiseX. Now click on the Morph Tab. If you play a note and move the MW, you'll see the white dot in the Morph Square move horizontally left-right and right -left from instrument A (AnalogBass) to instrument B (Plucked Pad). The above should giove you a good example to get started on your own. |

Thanks db,
The preset you are referring to is not in the demo version but there are four MM presets I can try when I get home and have access to a keyboard with a modulation wheel. Though I am pretty certain that my MK248C modulation wheel does not work in FruityLoops Studio. It does in Sonar though. Gordon |

OK now I have the full version and I'm not getting any response in Sonar or FLS in Cameleon from the mod wheel on my Evolution MK249C2 keyboard. Does anyone have this problem?

Not familiar with your Evo keyboard. Are you sure that the mod wheel is assignable to a CC#? Try with another synth to confirm. I'm using a Midiman Radium 61 keyboard, and all I had to do was the proceedure in Cameleon that I outlined above. No need to do anything with the keyboard's mod wheel. |

Hey db,
My MK249C MW is assigned to CC#14. I never thought it did anything anyway never having used it before. I though it was just there for decoration. Funny it also does not work with the MW built into ST2. The evolution PBW does activate it's cognate wheel in ST2 in Sonar but not in FLS (of course). In Sonar I can assign the evolution MW to many other VIs such as z3ta+, Pentagon1 knob via midi learn and on a good day to ST2. Automating the MW in Cameleon seems not to be the way to go. Automating MorphHarm parameter in FLS and Sonar does move the Morphing cursor thingy in a musical way. In FLS if I link a controller knob or simply automate by editing events it displaces ModSource1 to another parameter a cause Cameleon to stutter. I need to take some time to read the manual. It is very well written and for slowpokes like me that is a real plus. Cheers, Gordon |

Try to assign your Modwheel to CC#2, that's the standard for all midi devices.
If you can't do that, you can always try to select CC#14 (if it's available in the list) as a Modulation Source in the Modulation Page of CA5000. Peter. |

Thanks,
I'll try that. I've learned and promptly forgotten so many times how to assign CC numbers on my Evolution that I think I might be able to do it. There's too many buttons for people with full brain syndrome. Cheers, Gordon |

Hi Beardedone,
The reason you seem to be having some difficulties, is that your keyboard is setup to transmit mod wheel as CC#14, rather the MIDI standard value of 1. (Thanks db and peter for your help). One way to get this working as you'd wish is to 1) load up one of the mod-morph patches 2) go to the mod page, and select midi controller #14, as the source, rather than #1 (mod wheel). Don't hesitate to ask if you have more questions. Ben Last edited by Ben [Camel Audio] on Wed Dec 17, 2003 7:27 am; edited 1 time in total |

Erm.. sorry guys, I was wrong : Mod Wheel should be CC#1 in standard midi devices Peter. |

Thanks Guys,
Ben. That would be 14 Undefined as it is listed in FLS dropdown wrapper menu right. I don't think this will work in Fruity. Sonar most likely and I will try when I get home to my Carillon and Evolution keyboard. Here at work the problem still exists in FLS - automating any of the ModSources knocks it off to "none" and causes play to stutter. Automation of MorphHarm does work in Fruity. So, is automation of ModSource necessary? It once resulted in FLS to freeze completely last night on my home DAW forcing me to reboot Best, Gordon |
