Bought regardless - is this waveset manipulation? 'per-wave-cycle' makes me think it is at least similar..?

I count myself a total sucker for plugins that do weird stuff to sounds that I understand nothing of, but my initial impression is kinda negative. No matter what kind of audio I feed it, no matter what section of the plugin I use, it seems to make everything just sound somehow "worse". Like something was wrong with the basic audio engine used to process stuff or something. I don't know if oversampling would help? To my non-technical ears it sounds like everything is going through a really shitty AD/DA conversion or something...
Just my initial IMO. Might be that it's meant to sound just like that Smile

BTW I don't use synths, so I basically just tried it with guitars, drums and vocals. Maybe it's meant more for synths?

EDIT= I'm starting to understand the plugin better and have to say that it has great modulation options and very nice features. Something about the basic "sound quality" is still bugging me but I can see that this is a very creative and useful plugin for anyone looking for controlled FSU. Everyone should at least check this out!

Oh yes, this is great!

I've explored (more like touched-on) this dsp area with ploguebidule but couldn't get much further than the reLectro equivelant of 'repeat', so this is like the thing I couldn't make! But much better!

Lovely stuff Smile

Gritty and sharp..

I've always thought this particular form of audio raping is ripe for the next Autotune type phenomena, doing it's hard-robot thing.. If so, we might have a gateway here..

Liero

Yes, this was my first impression, too after i got the first beta weeks ago... But, if you try to work with it, you find a very nice way to make something new, don't use pads or something like this with relectro, use small percussive sounds, trigger them by yourself and relectro makes great things with it... You can listen to my Demosong where you can listen to some dry/wet sounds from my demosong...!

Been on the beta for a couple of months and really like it. It's blossomed into a fine sex machine. Although i do miss the yellow and green buttons from the earlier ones Sad
Another Thanks to peter for letting me be apart of this.

The demos on the site sound great. Very wet sounding, which I like. It certainly doesn't hurt that the dry material is really slick. I'll give it a roll tomorrow.

Massive fan of Linplug, own a lot of his plugins, I just don't get this plugin to be honest, wish he had spent the time doing some long overdue updates on other plugins instead of this, I know we all have to make a living but surely this thing has a very very limited market ?
I have always wanted to see what Peter would come up with in terms of an effect unit, sadly very disappointed Sad

It is an interesting tool but only for a special kind of music I think.
I hope that the next big thing is Albino 4 !!!
Please do it, Peter.

After trying the demo I'm disappointed too... it seems to me a one-trick-pony that is great at what it claims (turning simple drum beats into glitch and IDM madness) but not for anything else much. i tried it on a whole variety of material, but found I could not get anything usable or inspiring out of it - no doubt partly my lack of skill with it, but I really found it difficult to get any results that weren't either too subtle or too extreme... nothing in that middle ground I was trying for.

I think it would be good for this to have:
1) a randomise button
2) a global wet/dry fader

Just my 2cents.

D'oh! Embarassed

Thanks. This highlights another thing though... the GUI colour scheme/text is not exactly inviting. I thought that wet/dry control is a mod wheel thing, based on the UI used, and didn't even notice the pale grey text on white background...

Will have another play with it now though, as this should allow for some more subtle effects Wink

The problem I'm having with the wet/dry thing is that small amounts of the plugin just seem to lessen sound quality and not do much else. So you're forced to compensate by using more aggressive settings, which in turn make any signal into total glitch apocalypse.

This is definitely a very good plugin for glitchy people, but I can't see it being used to subtly enhance audio.

Well, I had high hopes for Relectro and didn't want to believe all the negative comments here, but I had a go with the demo last night and I sorta have to agree with the majority - it's "OK". I found that it is most effective on single or minimal percussion lines (e.g., hihats, congas and other hand drums), slightly better on top loops, and pretty much ranged from meh to overboard/unmusical on full drum loops. Whether I was flipping through presets or tweaking away in real-time, the results I got all seemed to be within a pretty limited range of filtered blips and bleeps with some delay. In other words, I felt like the plugin's "sweet spot" was very narrow. I haven't given up yet, though - I'll give it another spin this weekend without the context of high expectations, which may have had something to do with my disappointment.
