Enter the Kirk Hunter Studios Customer Demo Contest and You Could WIN a Sample Library Worth $799 USD!!!
KVRers, are you ready? From now until December 15, 2011, Kirk Hunter Studios is giving its customers the chance to win Concert Strings II or the equivalent in store credit at Kirkhunterstudios.com (first place), $200 in store credit at Kirkhunterstudios.com (second place) or $100 in store credit Kirkhunterstudios.com (third place)! All you need to do to enter is: - Create an original musical composition -- all styles of music are eligible -- or classical music composition that is in the public domain (know your stuff if you go this route; Mozart is public domain, Rachmaninoff is not) featuring any Kirk Hunter Studios library AND no other brands of string, brass or woodwind libraries (we're trying to show people what our customers have done with our libraries). Entries featuring copyrighted music you do not own the rights to are not eligible to win. - We'll accept something you already have produced or something new. - Link to the high quality audio or YouTube video of your submission. If you are chosen as one of the winners, we'll feature your winning entry on the Kirkhunterstudios. Consequently, we'll need the winners to furnish us with a high quality audio file of their winning submission. - After you post your entry in this thread, please forward a copy of your audio file or link, along with a list of all libraries and live instruments used, information on whether it is an original composition or a public domain piece of music (only your original music or public domain compositions are eligible to win) and any notes you'd like to include to kirkhunterstudios (AT) gmail (DOT)com. - You must be a registered user of any Kirk Hunter Studios libraries. "Friends" copies don't count. - All entries must be received by EXTENDED TO December 15, 2011 at 11:59 PM PT (from November 22, 2011). The winning entries will be chosen by December 20, 2011 8:00 PM PT by Kirk Hunter and eDrummist/Peter after reviewing entries and soliciting the opinions of KVR users. The names of the winners will be posted here on KVR. Let us hear you! [Edit: The Group Buy thread, with as much as a 75% discount on select Kirk Hunter Studios libraries (and an additional 10% off for current Kirk Hunter Studios customers), is here: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=331086&start=0 ] Last edited by KirkHunter on Mon Dec 26, 2011 11:15 pm; edited 7 times in total |

Here's a little quartet music piece I made. It's a traditional String quartet setup:
http://soundcloud.com/hivernal/quatuor The only sample library used is KH Solo Strings II (TVEC 3 programming). It's not my usual style of music, but is was fun to do. Well, I hope it pays off to be the first entry. |

I'm always interested in learning the stories behind songs, people's backgrounds and influences/inspirations. |

Well, I wrote Celtic pieces too, but I'm more into Metal/Funk rock/Symphonic/Film music, but not limited to that. The story behind this piece is very simple: I've always wanted to write a piece for a String Quartet and I finally took the time to do it. |

http://taotekid.bandcamp.com/track/my-wistful-hope @xoxos That's cool of you to do on his behalf. I see he used Emerald (which is a part of Diamond). Interesting piece. I like it. Can you PM his email address and I'll hang on to it in case he wins? Thanks, Peter |

Here is an instrumental track titled "Still Hope" that uses solo strings from Kirk's Emerald and Pop/Rock Strings libraries.
Still Hope No real story behind the piece, per se, but it did happen during a time of some personal distress, so it does carry a calming of the storm or peeking out of the sun behind he clouds kind of sentiment. The title has two meanings .. the most obvious is that there is still hope meaning that despite everything hope remains and hope has longer perspective than just todays problems. The other is that hope is often found in stillness rather than busy action and reaction to life's events. (I guess there is a bit of a story after all .. ---- Be kinder than necessary. Everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle. My tunes: http://www.soundclick.com/billdavies My VSTs:http://tonecarver.wordpress.com/ |

What a fantastic song! I do find the quick string passages seem unrealistic as the attack is a little slow but am blown away by the song regardless. ---- ʝλ√λʝ |
