I started at the end of the previous century with FL Studio (Fruityloops). Because of the built-in (extensive) sampler per channel. (Using the other sequencing programs without owning hardware was pretty difficult in those days)

Of course, failing that might be an idea to see about using an older system as well...I have a PII system that I run some older tracker programs on.

Thanks, I'd probably lose interest very quickly if I got it up and running.
