Just finished up some patch programming today and decided to take a little time to create a demo for our upcoming Shreddage Bass library (title is still tentative!)

Check it out here:

http://impactsoundworks.com/audio/demos/Bulldozer.mp3

Things to note:

* This is only using a very basic open sustain patch. No staccatos or mutes, hammer-on/pull-off, release noises, etc. Those are all recorded and mostly programmed, but I didn't have them in one patch to use here. Nonetheless, I think it sounds very good!

* No EQ, amp or other FX used on the bass. It just sits naturally without having excessive subs or ringing frequencies.

* You're hearing 3x velocities with 8x RR per velocity (4x down, 4x up pick.)

* Shreddage X with Revalver HPse on guitar, Steven Slate EX on drums.

Enjoy!

Release date: Hoping for the end of this month. Can't promise it but now that I'm (mostly) moved in to my new place, things are going very well. There are also several people helping with scripting + testing. At worst it will be out before Christmas, but I definitely want to shoot for end of Nov.

Price: Well, it's about 2x the size of the original Shreddage. How does $99 sound?

...

...

Nah, just kidding. Not even close. Just wait a bit longer and we'll announce it. Shreddage users will be pleased Very Happy

Nope!

So an update: the scripting seems like it's pretty much done. Features include:

* 3-band EQ customized to 'sweet spots'
* Octave playing easy switch
* Hammer-on/pull-off true legato playing with custom range
* One-click amp, compressor, limiter
* Downstroke-only mode
* Repetition reducer, in case 8x RR wasn't enough (uses the tried-and-true method of randomly transposing in adjacent zones.)

A special thanks to EvilDragon who advised me on various KSP features that were eluding me throughout the process.

We're now beta testing the library and working on art. One more question... what to call it? "Shreddage Bass" seemed like a no-brainer, but we might also do a Fingered bass whereas this one is a Picked bass. I was thinking Shreddage B: Picked Electric Bass (title: subtitle), or maybe "Shreddage Picked Bass".

I like the sound of Shreddage Picked Bass, since you are probably going to do a fingered bass version. However.......

Two questions:

1. How is Shreddage for Directwave coming along (aren't you getting close to being done with it?) I really am trying to be patient.... Wink

2. Will you do Shreddage Bass versions for Directwave too? Smile

audiojunkie: HOPING to finish Shreddage DW tomorrow. It really is just about there. I'll post an update about it one way or the other. I do think we will do a DW version of Bass as well, but a little later since we have to finish our existing catalog first.

Moeb: Unfortunately no, it won't. That might be for an update later if people like it, though. Currently the feature list (aside from scripting stuff as mentioned above) is:

* Bb2 to C5 range, picked DI
* 4x up/4x downstrokes per note
* 3 velocity layers
* Sustains and muted playing
* Staccatos (for both sustains and muted)
* Hammer-ons/pull-offs (3 velocities, 2x RR)
* Slide FX

Haha, no problem. So we're pretty close now on Shreddage in DW, issue at the moment is that the velocity scaling is messed up on a few notes and we have to go in manually and fix it. I'm not sure why it's only wrong on specific notes but go figure. I'm working with IL to correct that note by note.

Bass update: Testers are liking the library. I tried mocking up Filter's "Hey Man Nice Shot" (classic bassline) but this test revealed that some of our attack editing could have been better. So, I'm also re-editing every one of the 2000+ samples for consistency. I can do around 500-600 a day I think.
