Sorry for not answering earlier. Exactly that was what I meant. If you're gating recorded drums, for example, completely gating them out to -inf dB would sound like a kid pusing sample buttons on a toy piano, if you know what I mean. But gating each recorded drum track and having the gated level above -inf dB keeps the actual sound of the drums alive and going, and only makes the respective drum tracks a little louder when they actually play. This will sound much more natural, try it. ...I don't know if it's actually more trouble than a simple wet/dry fader, because the result would probably be the same, wouldn't it? But it's nice to know you're open to suggestions, and I think your new GUIs are a major upgrade. Guess I'll have to give you plugins another spin, and I'm surely gonna check out that Gate. I wish you all the best with your plugins for the future. ---- TINY METAL IMPACT - UPDATE Mar 1st '13 - available for Kontakt 4.2+ I guess one could call lead poisoning an ironic death. For information, v1.1.3 has been released and a "Range" knob has been added to SD-GATE87 I have created a new thread so we can discuss the whole series at KVR. Thanks again for this great suggestion! All the best, Philippe |
