Hi everyone,
Here's (U-he's) Diva running on Receptor (Receptor 2+ Pro Max):
This is really a best of class Virtual Analog synth. Also, one of the first to push a Receptor 2+ Pro Max beyond it's limits (for certain complex string pads, etc. For mono synths, it's on par with other recent VA's, performance wise). If you haven't heard Diva yet, you really should give it a listen. The latest rev (472) fixes most UI problems on Receptor. This is a very simple unsupported install. Both demo mode, and authorized plugin work fine. Regards, Kevin L |

Hello Kevin or any other knowledgeable parties-
I wonder if you can tell me where I've gone astray here. I've been playing with doing unsupported installs on a Receptor 2+ Pro Max for both the Diva 477 Beta and the just released Windows 1.0. (I ran the installer on a Windows computer and copied the resulting dll file and Data folders.) In both cases I'm getting the Diva U.I. without text. When I click on any window I do get a pop-up window with patch names or parameter values. I've purchased a DIVA license and I'm able to enter my registration code on both versions. Everything seems to work and sound great, any ideas how I can add text to my Diva GUI? Thanks and holiday greetings! |

@Robert - Yes, other than the high CPU usage (typically on patches with custom modulations and hi levels of modulation going on), it has been perfectly stable. You may need to rethink multi's that might use Diva to account for the high CPU, but the sound quality will probably make it worth it. @TechEverlasting: U-he plugins need a Windows system font called Lucida Sans Unicode, which is named C:\Windows\Fonts\l_10646.ttf - if you do a windows install, look for a font called Vera.ttf that gets installed, and put it (and rename it to 'l_10646.ttf') in Receptor's directory for Windows fonts (I believe \\Receptor\receptor hd\windows\Fonts), then this should just work. This has worked for me with ACE and Zebra on Receptor, and since I already had these installed on my R2, Diva just came up with the text working. Holiday wishes to all, Kevin L |

Thanks, this worked and I now have a fully functioning DIVA abusing the hell out of my Receptor 2+ Pro Max's CPU. In most cases I can get good results by either reducing polyphony to 5 or 3 or changing the quality to "Fast". I'm just resaving my patches with these settings.
I couldn't find the "Vera.ttf" file on the Windows machine I had installed Diva onto to get at the dll file, but I was able to download it from a font website. I renamed it to l_10646.ttf, drug it into the Receptor's Windows/Fonts folder and all is well. |

This previous comment is so laughable.
Obviously Diva is so CPU hungry do you really need a super computer and Receptor to run it. Now there's a nice 5-6 thousand dollar investment that you can't get on a dedicated workstation. WTF Cheers |

Have you tried Diva out? By combining a two year old MacBook Pro with a Receptor 2+ I can get a similar number of voices and instances as I would using just a brand new Macbook for less cash.
What's so laughable about that? |

Kevin L BTW, two interesting things happened over the last two days: 1. I just found out (thanks to Jan) that I can get 8 outs from my Receptor by using the ADAT (optical) outs. Wow this is big for me! 2. Using all that power, I just blew my tweeter out of my NS-10SMs for the thirty-second time! They are my favorite monitors. I guess I have to start looking for really some great monitors to replace them. I am thinking about Focal SM8s, but they are really expensive. ...any ideas? |

NS-10s are standard fare in a project studio ... flat but reliable. I bought some Genelec's 1030a's a while ago. Most of the time I end up using headphones ' to get work done', and occasionally use the monitors for level setting towards the end of a project. I'm woefully behind in following state-of-the-art in monitors - but I'm sure genelec has some newer monitors, and probably other manufacturers are doing well in this space. Regards, Kevin L |

I checked out the entire thread and they seem to be happy with the D5s... however I am looking for something better than my NS-10Ms. In the meantime I bid/won a pair of NS10MS on EBAY for $500. I guess I am hooked on their sound. I know a local guy who will sell me his B&W 802 Diamonds for $2K. Wow! My home studio is only 16'X18' so maybe the 802s are too big for the room. The RME outputs directly into my QSC 250W amp. My QSC drives my NS10Ms. There is nothing to disturb the signal path and therefore the sound is pure. I may, however, be overdriving the NS10Ms with too much power... but they sound great. The point is: I play (and listen) live through my NS10Ms while I record and play tracks using Sonar X1 or Ableton Live. When I play back, I expect to hear the exact same sound as I hear live. I use Ivory as my piano and Trillian for acoustic bass and together they sound GORGEOUS and more importantly "LIVE!" through the NS10Ms. The NS10Ms do the trick for me... but I keep blowing tweeters. ...Damn! I think I am going to look into the Barefoot MM35s... even though I will have to take out a 2nd mortage. LOL! On another note, what do you people think of DIVA as an analog synth? How are you using it? I haven't heard any spectactular sounds yet, but then I haven't spent enough time with DIVA. Generally Howard Scarr comes up with incredible patches, but at the moment I am still excited about Zebra2. I also use Omnisphere along with Zebra2... but Zebra2 is the cat's meow. |

Hi Phil,
I have fast become a fan of U-he's work. Not only because of their excellent creations, but because they also give us Receptor users 'the time of day'. I've interacted pleasantly with Urs a number of times for Receptor idiosyncracies to get them addressed on Diva, Ace, and Zebra. (Zebra and Ace still have a few Receptor Display issues, BTW). Zebra is very friendly on a Receptor CPU though. In terms of functionality and flexibility, I find all three of these plugs at the upper end of the scale. As you mentioned, Howard Scarr and others seem to provide fairly high quality patches in each of these plugs as well. Specifically for Diva, you can drag a Receptor to it's knees, so I am finding that I use only one instance of Diva, and use other plugs for more bread and butter things (at the same time). It is really nice to have the 'quality' setting pulldown on Diva, because you can audition the same patch at different settings - typically giving you a benchmark to compare what you get for your CPU investment. From my own ear, I find Diva to have better general 'warmth' in typical analog pads, more reactive and precise envelopes, nice controls on legato/portamento, and great detail in the filter (when you sweep a filter over various resonance levels).
