Wouldn't it be great to have? Say that you've found a great location with a specific room that you like. Wouldn't it be great if one could just pick up the ipad, and just record it? |

You can do the 'sampling' part' with any app which can record audio. Pop a balloon to create the impulse.
Or are you talking about an app which plays the impulse, records the reverb, processes that into an IR, and then does convolution on the ipad for you, or just some of that? Which of those do you want? |

I was more thinking of an app that plays the impulse, and then records the resulting IR from it. |

Sorry, but it does quite the opposite from what I want to do by applying a predefined IR to my recording. This is what I want to the app to do.
1. Press record 2. Play an impulse 3. Let the echo be recorded. 4. Finnish recording 5. Send recorded IR to email or dropbox. 6. Use the IR in say Image-Line's Convolver reverb. Don't get me wrong the IR's in SpaceSampler is great, it just isn't what I need, and the name is pretty misleading. A better name would be reverb recorder. |

I think the main issue would be whether the iPad/iPod device's speaker would be loud enough to create the impulse. Im not convinced it is, to be honest. I think you'd be better off using the classic popped balloon/ cap gun method, and at the very least you can combine that with whichever recording software you use and do the wave-to-IR stage on your PC.
However I think you're right in that a simple app for capturing and processing into an IR would be useful to some people. Since it sounds like there is already a convolver in the form of this SpaceSampler, then you'd even have a way of testing your generated IRs 'onsite'. |

It would be pretty nice to have such a feature to record the IR's in SpaceSampler. |
