Hey guys! Here's a new dubstep track I'm working on. It's still a WIP, but the general idea is here, going for a somewhat softer feel than I did in my previous track, would love some feedback on it http://soundcloud.com/rogvi_n/ronnie-flex-preview-1 Last edited by ronnieflex on Thu Feb 02, 2012 3:54 am; edited 2 times in total |

The first thing I would do would be change the thread title to brostep |

Hmm, the track is, well, it's lacking something. It's not very exciting. The mix is really all over the place in the top end as well, it sounds like everything is fighting to occupy the same frequencies. The second part has the "dubstep" (or brostep, whatever that is) elements, but they seem like "vanilla dubstep" and there's not enough happening. I do like the chopped and filtered parts playing some kind of melody, but something is still off that I can't put my finger on unfortunately. The mix bit doesn't help of course.
I think giving things more space, and letting some silence in there now and then wouldn't hurt as a start. As it is now it's like you're desperate to fill every second with as much sound as possible which just detracts rather that "wow"s in this case. |

What I think might be the final version is up now, I've mixed the track, the first time I've done that in ages, so if I could get a comment on the mix I'd be a very happy human being. |

Well I feel special you'd try to fix things more to suit my taste, though, don't try doing that, I'm a bit of a cynic. Looking back at your older works, you have gotten a cleaner sounding mix, I will give you that, but I still love your more...4 on the floor, Wasp VST stuff with the Ronnie Flux style in it. Some of those later tracks you did more felt like you were following a trend then creating your own style.
Also, I realize I linked you to the wrong place in my last post, I meant this: http://soundcloud.com/rogvi_n/ronnie-flex-i-r-duck |

You are special <3 Tried bringing out the snare really in this new mix, just updated. I'm pretty much done with that progressive house thing, I think I'm going to stick with dubstep/complextro/brostep for now... |
