Why no decent upgrade path for BFD2?

I notice that BFD2 is on sale this month for $149.

I bought BFD Eco, thinking that in the future, I could upgrade to BFD2 for a decent price.

And yet, the current BFD2 deal is the same price for everybody, regardless of previous purchases...
