Hello,
I have an sfz including these lines: <region> sample=Samples\Seduce_strings\064_rsmus7 - C2-L.wav lokey=15 hikey=41 pitch_keycenter=48 pan=-100 <region> sample=Samples\Seduce_strings\064_rsmus7 - C2-R.wav lokey=15 hikey=41 pitch_keycenter=48 pan=100 <region> sample=Samples\Seduce_strings\065_rsmus7 - C3-L.wav lokey=48 hikey=53 pitch_keycenter=60 pan=-100 <region> sample=Samples\Seduce_strings\065_rsmus7 - C3-R.wav lokey=48 hikey=53 pitch_keycenter=60 pan=100 When I load the SFZ as "import audio" in granular engine, sampler mode, only the left channel is played; does it mean Alchemy doesn't support layering sounds on same region with different panning? Thanks, Mario |

Pan should be supported; have a look on this page:
http://www.camelaudio.com/SFZ-Player-Editor-Definition-Sampl es.php What happens if you load only the "left" samples or only the "right" samples? ---- DarkStar Interesting, if true ... Last edited by DarkStar on Wed Mar 14, 2012 1:15 am; edited 2 times in total |

Hi Darkstar,
yes I think pan is supported, but I'm not sure that layering samples on same key/note is supported... - Mario |

Just tried layering here in a rough experiment - I think that you could be right. it sounds like it uses the first mapped sound only.
Velocity splits (no overlap) worked OK. ---- DarkStar Interesting, if true ... |

Hi mabian!
I think your problem may occur because you're using the 'Import Audio' option - SFZ files should be just loaded in exactly the same way as WAV files, using the 'Load Audio' option: 'Load Audio' can be used load a single WAV, AIFF, or SFZ file rapidly into the Granular element for playback in Granular or Sampler mode. You can also load files by clicking the Source content field's forward and back arrows. 'Import Audio' is for when you want Alchemy to analyze and resynthesize a sound file, to quickly import multiple files to a single source, or when you want to preview sounds before loading them. Hope this helps! Martin |

Hello Martin, thanks a lot, I'll try when I'm back home.

Just for info (or to confuse things) I used the [File] menu button >> "Load" to load the sfz file into the Player. ---- DarkStar Interesting, if true ... |

No good... I used "Import audio" so I guess something else's wrong |

Hi,
The Import Audio browser certainly can import SFZ files for additive / spectral analysis so that's not the problem. As far as I know yes it should be possible to pan each region in the SFZ independently, although this is not represented on the GUI because the pan setting is global to the source. The problem may be due to a bug - I will check your SFZ settings later and report back with some info. If it is a bug, I'll create a case for v1.30. Peace, Andy. |

Hi Andy,
as I said I'm not sure the problem is in the panning settings, but rather with the fact that two or more regions have overlapping note range and velocity, and it seems only one is played when triggering a note in that range... - Mario |

OK, I see what you mean now ... I think the second region (with the same settings, but a different sample) would simply overwrite the previous matching region. You would need to split the regions across 2 SFZ files and import to separate sources to achieve this effect.
Peace, Andy. |

Ok, I understand; this is not currently feasible for me because I'm using some sfz files as I got them, I'd like to avoid tweaking them because I'm into making music more than tweaking soundbanks...
Please consider an FR for adding layering sample support to Alchemy SFZ support Thank you very much, Mario |

I've asked if it's possible in the current version as I'm not 100% sure, but think it's unlikely. For Alchemy v2, yes this is something that we will consider.
