What a joker that Meffy is.

You have to wonder about people that spend the time and effort to go one 3 or 4 different sites to post treatises about how much they hate something. No one is going to be impressed by how superior you think you are....

Obviously you don't create music on your PC/Mac at all.

Happy Easter anyway, I'm sure props are having one... Wink

The condescension just makes you come off like an ass.

I have a well equipped PC for making music, as well as several synths, and of course an iPad. I just didn't feel the need to include all that in my signature.

Not sure what any of that has to do with Figure, a cheap fun app that delivers exactly what was promised. I've already gotten more than a buck's worth out of enjoyment out of it. Obviously you haven't, which is fine, but calling anybody who likes it "ignorant " says a lot more about you than it does about Figure.

....sorry Meffy...

My big hope with Figure is that the interest in it spurs the Propellerheads on to develop a more fully-feature iPad version of it (with export for starters). In the one interview video I saw a couple of weeks ago, they said pretty much as much. So yeah, it's basic and frustratingly limited in terms of export, but imagine what it's going to be six months from now Smile

I thouhgt the same too, but I think that, it is because of its limitation to 2 bars recording and no save/export fonction that people can see it as a jamming tool.
With all the automations, plus the missing features it' coud definitely be more than that.

i like it, it'S the props 4 years late attempt at a kaossilator, but it's as fun to play with, and the sounds are pretty good IMOHO, and if i want to record it, i'll do like every iApp, plug the line out in my soundcard and hit record, not that big of a limitation for me

Well, to be honest, it has nothing to get your creative juices flowing Sad
If anything, it makes you angry and frustrated that you can not expand/continue with the pattern created in Figure to any other app...

Sounds like it does get your creative juices flowing but then the limitations rain on your parade Smile

While I'd like to 'do more' with my noodlings, I love that the act of creating is so intuitive. The more I use it, the more I love the interface - it's brilliant. It's great that so much is really just doing things by ear - by whether they sound good or not - due to the pitch, range & scale steps being fairly ambiguous.

I'm sure the Props have more planned - they must be looking at this like a gateway drug for Reason, interface differences notwithstanding. Continuing a track in Reason makes way too much sense for it not to happen.

Yeah, seems unlikely that the Props wouldn't take advantage of this huge potential, especially if this entry level app really wets the appetite for more advanced editing among its users. A simple "Export to Reason" option instead of a local "Save" on the iOS portable devices could create a new reason to download the demo version of Reason for further editing...

...then they could just create a dedicated Figure device for the Reason rack, with a little button that pushes the 2-bar patterns to the Reason main sequencer, similar to how the Matrix Pattern device already works in Reason today with its 'Copy Pattern to Track' functionality.

Love

Not sure if this has been posted. From the prop forum, a developer commented on coming features.

More features are on its way, including save/export.

From the developer
Quote:
As you might have guessed or read elsewhere, we do have a nice long list of features to add to Figure in coming updates. Bringing stuff in/out is high up there. That means save/load, export, social sharing and so on.

And best of all - if you bought Figure already, these features will be free. We won't put basic features like these behind In App purchases, that'd feel very wrong.

I look forward to see where it develops.. Might have to hunt up feedback avenues, I have a little wish list
-a pattern pool
-an undo/redo (revert) button on each edit page that remains active on that page even if you go do edits on another page then come back ( a quick easy way to have 2 variations per page)
-having the option of automating those round pattern select dials

I just saw the manual is now available.. Picked up a couple extra things.. How to use the range control properly.. (horizontal and vertical swipes) and the fact that swiping across each of the drum strips gives variation in the sound of that kit piece.

It is amazing to see the heated discussion this app has caused. Also at iDesignsound where I have never seen such an amount of posting unless it was about getting free promo codes. If some unknown dev had released such an app, it would have been forgotten again 5 minutes later. Limited apps with no export options are almost flowing from the app store at a daily basis without causing such a "sensation".

Maybe the problem is that big names cause big expectations? Or maybe they should not have associated it with Reason engine wise? At least they can not complain about lack of attention.

Personally I would love to see Reason for iPad, but come on guys, meanwhile there are a lot of great apps to engage in. Why do you let is one get to you?

Get over it and go make some iMusic on apps suited for it.

It's pretty alright. Played it a bit with my son... It waskinda fun. Wish I could tweak a lot more the synth engine. It's great to waste a bit of time. Might even be good to actually start a track.

I won't use it that much, it's a nice lil toy.
