Hey everyone how are you going?? As some of you may know i'm making my own tutorials covering dance music production if not you can check out some of my videos over here http://www.youtube.com/craigwilliamsmusic recently I thought that it might be good to do some videos of me making a track from start to finish.
The first series of videos I have made is covering me making a bass heavy tech house track. If there is anything I cover that you don't understand or if you would like something explained better feel free to leave a comment on the video. Enjoy Craig p.s if I get some good response I will be making more covering some over styles in dance. http://www.facebook.com/craigwilliamsmusic http://www.soundcloud.com/craigwilliamsmusic http://www.twitter.com/craigjwilliams Here is a link to the playlist on youtube with all the videos. http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL4E9AD9EBA1F91461&feat ure=plcp Intro video showing the track and parts that I will cover in my tutorials. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jt_jP7iTIbA Drums Pt 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDIKJtY1XeU Drums Pt 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmdYyLc9FwY Drums Pt 3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HM1WSEwPmdw Drums Pt 4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMkHuehFqLA Drums Pt 5 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MT_n_5nhYY Drums Pt 6 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOwPnPb3NWA Bass & Lead Synth http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HA8467ZkSZo Adding More Top Line Drums http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXeCikOSluQ Adding Pad Synth http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r82Qfz5d3Ds Adding Synth Accents http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFFMSZTF0-A Adding synth Organ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBmaSVt9OG4 Adding Vocals Pt 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nzhv0M5toHY Adding Vocals Pt 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVn1SjVPgs8 Adding More Perc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xEXBwD7ZuY Bass Line Variations & Tightening The Perc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRLUrhj1EWk Arrangement Pt 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wl8kpmXCC3M Arrangement Pt 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lp421a1Inx8 Arrangement Pt 3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lr0GNBMAemI Changing The Bass Pattern http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88pfb4Nwr3Y Adding More Vocals http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCELGqWSxiw Adding Automation http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BKJMGHvc54w Drum Fills & Transitional FX http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsMF5LYHOtI Drum Fills & Transitional FX Pt 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wT25Wh5qoME Drum Fills & Transitional FX Pt 3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kj0wtnSDMXc Drum Fills & Transitional FX Pt 4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXC1TXt43yU Drum Fills & Transitional FX Pt 5 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cK5rFopQwaE Drum Fills & Transitional FX Pt 6 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ncc1ps_j5tU Mixing Pt 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1gc70E2pmw Mixing Pt 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56HUPqqO_zg Adding Accents http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-PUkZS2gj1s Last edited by craigjwilliams on Sun Apr 15, 2012 3:12 pm; edited 1 time in total |

Appreciate your work, experience (see there are lots of releases, yes respect) and ambition. But here is my feedback:
I seriously wish these kinds of tutorials "How to make xxx music style" didn't exist Just what I feel like because I see so many people commenting on soundcloud just to get up in the business ("nice track. check out mine"). I'm sick of all this for a while now. But again, I might be wrong and just a bit closed minded the last days. Don't want to attack you but give feedback. And I know this will draw a bad light on me most likely. I think trying out things by yourself is far more challenging and helps you to find your own style. I'm just about to abandon Tech House for this reason If you love music and have a close listen you can imagine how any sound can be created, try some time and you get it. |

hey there thanks for the nice comments i'm glad you like the series and I hope you get something out of it.
To phazedown I can totally see where you are coming from. I must say for the amount of work and time taken to complete the videos it far out ways any promotion that I gain. I'm not going to lie I have received some more followers but the main reason that i'm doing it is so people starting out can learn something to help them on there music making journey. I have learnt a bunch from youtube so I kind of thought that it would be good for me to pay it forward. I totally agree with you that you need to take the time to try things out and find your own sound. I do also know that when I started I didn't know where to start. I didn't know where to start when it cam to synthesis or drum programming so I think it's nice that people can see how a track is made for free. Keep rocking Craig |

hey craig,
really good tutorials you got there! I really appreciate the effort and work you put into this. Would be pretty cool, if you could cover some deeper genres of house music. Lookin forward to that Keep up the good work and greetings from Germany! |

Going by the time on your post you haven't watched the videos, so it's more a knee jerk response than feedback. What's the difference between a youtube video and the harmonielehre of old? |

Thank you everyone for the nice comments. I had not really got much of a response other than people wanting the Logic session.
I'm going to start a new series covering the future techno sound (NT89, Burns and Evil Nine) The track is going to be a acid track (I have been playing around with a couple of patterns) and i'll be hoping to incorporate some of my analog gear. Keep rocking Craig |
