Ive found Xewton Music Studio to have one heck of a drum sequencer for iPhone/iPad. Customizable kits and pad placement plus note editing and quantization. Check out this vid....this is a rough cut...turn your speakers on! http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=04YT64QOvhU |

Oh yes, and the MIDI Editor of Music Studio is the mot intuitive and fastet way to full edit MIDI notes on iOS.
I just wish they'll add full Virtual MIDI soon... |

I don't really use it for anything else besides drums....I can get such a great mix in my tracks that I'm very close to replacing EZDrummer and Studio Drummer with this...I like that I can "play" what I need to on the touch screen AND edit with the sequencer. Anybody else having trouble with NI Studio Drummer....mine bogs my computer down really bad. I've got plenty of RAM and processing power. Works great if I use it by itself but as soon as I start to record a guitar track, it starts stuttering bad..lim no noob...I have tweaked all my settings for optimal performance....thoughts? |

Are you using the stock Music Studio kits, rolling your own, or using any of the in-app purchases as add-ins? |

Can't you do the same with Garageband, which costs 1/3 the price and you don't have to do in app purchases? How is it different? |

I'm glad I'm not the only one who was underwhelmed with the drum sounds in GarageBand. I like the Smart Drummer patterns (though I can't seem to edit them after they are recorded? They're not just MIDI data I can't edit like the rest of the MIDI tracks in GB? Maybe I'm missing something obivous), but the drum sounds are eclipsed by both Music Studio and SampleTank. |

Really nice sounding drums! You're a pretty good finger drummer as well. |

Hey Derek,
Do you know of any basic training for using drum pads to sketch out a basic beat. As a guitar player, putting down some basic drum tracks is harder than it seems. I figure a little advice and seeing how people approach it would be very helpful. Thanks. ---- Dave |

Its tricky...lots of practice. Set up your pads how your comfortable with them...my setup works well for me..play with a metronome. Start with simple hihat bass and snare...you can always edit later. You can use the keys also but I prefer the pads. Practice copying simple beats and add your own touch to them. I'll post a video maybe tomorrow.Do you know of any basic training for using drum pads to sketch out a basic beat. As a guitar player, putting down some basic drum tracks is harder than it seems.
