Z3ta+2.
For such semi-modular concept I would think more about U-He Zebra. IMO better than Synthmaster and more in the focus (a lot of professional musicians using Zebra, not only Hans Zimmer).

Synthmaster has been like a public beta, but it is rounding into shape and is less like you describe

This is another reason to go for Synthmaster.
The developer is very active and responds quickly to users. Bugs seem to get fixed very quickly too!

Cheers
Dennis

I wrote a post criticizing Synthmaster for a few things and pointed out a bug. The developer sent me a pm and said that he just fixed the bug. I was only using the demo and not even a customer and his customer service was better than most companies for their paying customers!

That is a tangible asset right there!

Where exactly is the arp in Synthmaster? I get a little confused by the UI (my faulty brain is to blame). I may look for this on sale if I can get it for the same price as Z3ta+2 which I was considering partly for the arp.

EDIT: Finally found it, duh...

Synthmaster, no doubt. Download it and compare it to the demo of Z3ta. Oh… right. You can't because Cakewalk doesn't believe in demo versions. V2 was reportedly really buggy too, though they may have fixed stuff. For me, no demo= no purchase.

Synthmaster sounds fantastic and I think you'll love it.

Well, we have many "professional musicians" using SynthMaster as well, to name a few are:

David Guetta
Armin van Buuren
Sandy Vee
Rob Swire
Devrim Karaoglu (part of Rock Mafia)
Axwell (I guess he's part of Swedish House Mafia, he recently purchased SynthMaster)

Synthmaster definitely. Got it really cheap when people were underestimating it and i decided to get it on an impulse buy. Almost decided to sell it since i never use it (due to my ignorance, not it's feature) but now i'm glad that i was wrong. Once you get overthe interface this is a magnificent synth.

This is great that also some professionals using Synthmaster. But it was often criticized for a thin sound and big cpu usage and other stuff (noise and zipping effects while using the controls, average effects etc.) Maybe that's why some call it "public beta".
Anyway this doesn't mean that Synthmaster is bad, only personal taste after testing. I would recommend Zebra (sounds IMO better and is light on CPU and very flexible)

Hi,

My friend started to make music together with me and wanted to get into the soft synth world. He can only afford one. Consider both are under similar price range (Z is on sale in cake's Web site). Which one has better sound engine and feature rich? Our music towards to dance music like Trance/House so we need good SAW Lead/Lush PAD and Virus like bass and flexible arp programming.... Any discussion and comments are all welcome.

Cheers

Get both.
Synthmaster first.
Great synth with a developer who will implant nice new features in the future.
Bulent listens to what the user wants.I suppose there will be very good 3rd party presets in the future . It will take some time though. ( Massive is for sometime on the market, but recently there are so many super patches you can buy).
Z3ta is great sounding too and cheap. Version 2 is very good sounding and there are great presets on the market. Version two seems a little underestimated I think.

+1 with me too......I had z3ta which I never used and then upgraded it to 2 which I never use either..... I am sure when 3 comes I will do the same Very Happy..
to me it is very very cold, thin and digitally sounding...nothing wrong if you are into that types of thing.....but for me synthamster by a mile.

I have both synths, but I almost never use Z3ta+, except for one OSC here on KVR and that was it.

I use Synthmaster all the time, working on a new track with it right now.
